Hi everyone,

I have a friend who is very smitten with a lovely lady from Ukraine. He has been to see her twice now in Ukraine, but they would like a change of scenery this time. So he asked me if I knew of the countries that a citizen of Ukraine could travel to, that does NOT require a visa. I know of a few off hand and have told him, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Turkey and that about runs the well dry. So, any thoughts, anyone know of a list out there someplace? I have not scoured the Ukraine embassy webiste completely yet, just gave it a good going over a few times did not see anything.

I would appreciate any help on this one, he really wants to have a good time away from Ukraine and spoil her a bit I think.

Thank you!!

I found her in March 08'

We met in December 08'

Turkey is a great place to vacation - lots of resorts :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Delta Airlines has a visa checker.

You put in your citizenship country, i.e. Ukraine, and put in the destination country and shows the visa requirements.

This is a link to a Ukrainian consulate that shows visa free countries.

However, it seems that the list really isn't very long when you consider that most of the countries required a diplomatic or service passport. My understanding is that she would only be visa free to countries that say "all passports" or "documents identifying a person and confirming a citizenship."

Wikipedia has a somewhat different list (wikipedia should always be double-checked). However, Wikipedia's list includes countries that aren't technically visa free, but will grant a visa for a fee upon arrival at the border. Seems pretty close to visa free to me. The list is here:

That Delta site is pretty good. It's fairly easy too so even a rock like me can figure it out. Not saying you're a rock, just saying it's what we'd call "user-friendly."

Plus, Delta, being a private business has more of an incentive to keep their site updated than a govt. agency.

Former FSU for the most part, maybe not Georgia LOL. Turkey requires a visa but you buy it at POE. The airlines have good systems to check on their website. Dominican Republic either requires no visa or sells them at POE. Seems to be a popular place for meeting Russian fiancees. Czech Republic issues them easily but you do need it. This may have changed since 2007 with their EU status, not sure.

Hi, I am in the exact same situation. Here are some I found: Moldova, Malaysia, Mongolia for sure. None are great locations either. I was also told some former soviet countries, but some not. No list provided. You can email me if you find anything good and we can put our heads together.

AFAIK, an EU country--like Czech Republic--would require a Shengen.

As Gary aluded above, don't forget to include countries (like Turkey - already mentioned) where you could both buy a visa at POE, or (like Egypt or Tunisia), almost any one can get a visa. Not endorsing Egypt etc. - just using it as an example of a place a USC could get into that FSU passport holder don't seem to have a problem with either. B)

My wife and I vacationed together in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic while waiting for her K3 visa. It was really incredible...one of the best resorts I've ever been to and I've done a lot of travelling. I'd highly recommend it if you are looking for a place on this side of the world.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

EU and Schengen are not the same... two separate "lists".

YMMV
