RFE - How long can it take?

Hi,

Now I am really, really frustrated with NVC...my checklist response to their RFE was delivered at NVC's premises last Monday so over a week ago (I know I had a tracking number) and it is not even in their system yet as 'received.' Seems like for over a week now they have not even opened the envelope to scan the barcode!

Does anyone have any idea how long I should wait before sending them an extra copy in case they lost it? AOS docs and DS230 packet is usually opened and scaned into the system within 2-4 days...is that possible that RFE go some other way?

Hey mikey...

I know, it's frustrating as hell. I would wait a bit if I were you -- they seem a bit backlogged these days. I sent in my IV package last week and they sent me an RFE checklist for it yesterday! So... they're obviously a little slow. DOn't sent it in again as it could bung up the system even more for you, hold tight and if I were you, I'd call and speak to an operator and see what's up.

May I also ask what your RFE was for? Just curious and as we're both Canadian, maybe I made a similar error, you know?

Best of luck...

Sounds Frustrating.

My RFE return went as follows

7/21 Shipped Fedex

7/22 signed for at NVC

7/23 "Checklist Received" message on recording

8/5 Case completed per operator

That whole RFE process was a nail biter for me. Good Luck!

Thx for the replies...and of course as I was just running out of patience...I called NVC again in the evening just to find out that they scanned it into the system later in the afternoon...so now it is awaiting final review.

Lgg, it was about DS2019...a thing that is not even listed in the packet of forms they require, so there was no way I could've avoided that...applies only to people that had J1 visa before. It would be cool if we had our cases completed at the same time :) And then MTL here we come :star:

And btw, the NVC operator told me that it took so long because I didn't send the bar coded cover sheet! Which of course is not true because I did and the document was stapled to it...every time you call they tell you something interesting...
