Some of these jerks (and I haven't noticed them in the Canadian sub-forum) are already naturalized for crying out loud. I find that a bit odd. No offense duckies but once I'm naturalized, I'll wish everyone a sincere good luck and goodbye and then I'm outta here!

No offense taken...

But if you're only here for one thing and one thing only then you need not make an entire thread complaining about others. Get your information, ignore the people who bother you and move on.

I guess some of you didn't read my entire orignal message. I said I tip my hat to those who hang around after they are naturalized and give good advice to those in need. What I don't like are those who 'lurk' (or even if they're still going through the process) and only make nasty or hurtful remarks. Jeez Louise people, I wasn't asking anyone to get off the website. I just happen to have seen some rather negative posts directed at people who were sincerely looking for assistance. I looked at the timeline of these folks and they were already naturalized. It boggles the mind. Anyway, I'm afraid some of the targets of these negative comments might have been run off never to return and that stinks.

I prefer toaster strudels, but I am not to pass off a poptart either. :P

Some people don't have anything else better to do with their time other than to be rude from behind a keyboard.

Does it really boggle your mind? Is the society that surrounds you so idealistic that it surprises you that people are a$$holes on a message board?

Message boards are a great breeding ground for jerks unfortunately.

I wouldn't put much thought into it. Sadly they'll never go away.

Well, I guess I'm probably considerably older than a lot of my fellow VJers and this is my first (and only!) discussion board of any kind since starting this process back in early 2006. Obviously my naivete is showing but that's OK, I'm learning. I never thought a website that was kindly set up to guide its members through the trials and tribulations of immigration (and does a wonderful job for the most part) would attract even one d$#%*&bag bent on being hurtful/unhelpful/nasty for no discernible reason. I would have thought there were a zillion other forums that would be more to their liking. Maybe Pollyanna should be my middle name, eh?

Is the 'OT' people are referring to the Off Topic stuff?

Yes.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Or use the fantastic "Vent Thread" right here, in the Canada forum.

Making a whole thread about this is a bit childish.

Well again, you'd be surprised. I asked a few questions once on a message board for stroke survivors regarding my dead grandmother who was a smoker and was told that she deserved it.

People are brave behind a keyboard.

Focus on the members who are here to help you.

It's pretty common place. As Sprailenes said, behind a keyboard people find it very easy to write things that they would never think of saying otherwise.

Some people are just honest. I feel like I'm one of those. I won't hold my tongue. But, I also think that I try to be mindful of others most of the time.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
