My step son will turn 16 in the begining of August. Our petition is at NVC right now, and we are waiting for the DS230 . Would it make sense to wait with the DS230 untill he is 16 (Next month) and hope that NVC will run the security checks on him as an over 16 beneficiarry (I read about cases where the file was sent to the consulate BEFORE the kid was 16, and then the consulate realized that the kid is 16 , and sent the file back yo NVC for the apropriate checks- thus causing further delays).

Does anyone have any idea?
