Processing dates query

Hi all. I just checked the USCIS processing dates for I-129F (K-1 Visa app). With other types of visas, it says things like '1 month', '3 months', etc. But the I-129F says 'December 30th, 2008' ! What does that mean?

It means those are the dates of the applications that were last worked on ... the dates from the NOA i believe

The processing dates you see represent the Oldest petitions they are working on - not the most recent ones (like you might think it does). For the I-129f, that date is almost always at least 6 months or so behind. Most folks getting approved have sent their petitions in much more recently than that date (I think we're currently seeing March filers being approved). (In other words, it's a bit misleading and no really cause for concern.)

If it helps, we filed on April 4th and received our NOA2 on July 17th or something time that. According to other timelines that are similar to ours it looked like 3.5 months was about average.

The USCIS timelines are useless. The date is the NOA1 date of the OLDEST case in the system. It means, unless your case becomes the "new" oldest case, your case will be processed faster than that. How's that for precision estimates? And it only costs you a few dozen million $ per year.

The VJ timelines are the most accurate I have seen, pretty good for tracking an agency that seems to operate with no rhyme or reason.
