And just a check in with everyone who was a filer at CSC in August - has anyone had their visa approved yet? Or may I be the first one due for approval?

Astrid,

We received notification that her mom received her packet 3 last week and I faxed her IV/F04 yesterday which will set up getting packet 4 sent to her home. She is here with me in L.A. and we have completed all her forms, 156, 156K and my I-134 affadavid of support. She is flying back on December 6th so I hope that they don't schedule the interview too soon as we don't want her not to be there for it. The plan is for her to get everything done and then get a cheap ticket for me to go over to Poland in late December and for us to fly back sometime early January with the new visa. Do you think it's too ambitious? Maybe we won't get the interview date till January? what do you think?

How soon did you recieve your interview date after you sent in your IV/F04?

Bernie

I have been reading (both online references and people's personal experiences) that the processing at each embassy is vastly different. For instance, I hear the wait at the Philippine embassy is something like 3-months from time of packet 4 submission to interview date. Singapore on the other hand is more like one week! Also, some embassy's grant the visa AT the end of the interview (Singapore! Wow, imagine that? No second trip!) while others make you wait and may take a week or more.

Someone on this board advised to NEVER buy airline tickets until you have the visa in hand. I think that is very wise advise!

Just wondering if any of you has to fill out DS 157 & 158?

It seems these are not included in package 3 from Indonesian Embassy.

Wondering if they ask us to fill those out for the interview?

I don't see the list of documents need to bring for the interview in package 3, is that list coming from package 4?

Now still waiting for my fiancee to get her passport done, and some employment verification from my job. :(

I think that is a question you need to ask in the Europe or Poland forum. As hdkimo said, each embassy is VERY different. For example, if you look at my timeline, when I sent in P4, I got an interview date for three weeks later. I have heard that the Montreal, Canada embassy is backed up and people are waiting months for interviews. Have you already sent in packet four? If not, wait until she is home, or at least a few days before she goes home before sendng it, to ensure you get an interview while she in in the country.

So yeah, I would consult with some Polish members to get a clearer idea of what your journey may pan out like. And don't buy any tickets until you know you have the visa. YOu may have to skip flying back with her to the US, but it will be all worth it in the end.

Rongko - I did not have to fill in those forms. If they aren't asked for by the embassy, don't do them. The packet four list that I got just told me to bring my passport, the visa fee receipt and a prepaid envelope with me to the interview, and of course my evidence. This is just Sydney though, I don't know how your embassy does things.

Still waiting for my fiancee to get her new passport :)

Then, she'll schedule for medical exam and police report.

Still a lot of things that we have to do, but hoping on 12/21/09 we could notify the embassy to ask for interview date :)

Oh well...no approval before xmas, but....getting interview's date should be an acceptable xmas present no? :D

We are in a holding pattern waiting for her NBI (police report) from the Philippines. Even though she has lived in Singapore for 15 years, and already got a police report from Singapore, she still has to get the NBI. That won't be ready until next Monday. Once we have that she can drop the packet at the US embassy and we can get along with things.

The silver lining to this storm cloud is that because of commitments to her job (and the staggering cost of airfare during the holiday season!) her flight back to the US really cannot happen before the 2nd week of Jan2010 anyway. Seeing as how the Singapore US embassy usually schedules interviews within a week and issues visas very quickly we should be on schedule for mid-January.

Australian passports do not have the address in them, so that isn't a problem for me. I've moved three times since I got my passport nearly four years ago!
