I should probably book my plane ticket soon for my interview in Montreal for my CR-1 Spousal Visa. I have my interview on Monday the 20th. I recall reading that we will have to go back the next day to pick a document up. Can someone elaborate on that. I'd like to return back to Vancouver on Monday night.

You have two options:

Option1

They hand out the Visa (which is in ur Canada Passport)the next day at MTL, belive others have posted around 2:30 pm. So that would be Tuesday March 21 for you.

Option2

On completion of successful linterview you hand them a prepaid express post enevlope and they will mail your passport with new visa in it to you. Not sure how long it would take to get to Vancouver.

Guess it all depends on how fats you want to depoart Canada and spend the extra $ for the extra hotel night!! If I had the option, I would go for #1. Mtl is a nice city, time to chill and enjoy the experience, and do not have to worry about Canada post losing your passport, lol Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Our packet said visas will be ready the following day starting at 3pm. So my husband and I are planning on staying until Tuesday then leaving. Of course, we're going to be travelling by car, so it's different.

I actually somehow managed to get my K-1 visa the next day.. My interview was on a friday (this was like a year ago but anyways) so I didn't want to stay the extra weekend.. Hotels were expensive and I was there by myself.. Anyways.. I brought a prepaid envelope with me, but I didn't end up needing it.. The officer asked me if I would wait for it to get it that day, and of course I said yes... so i just got it the same day.. didn't even have to wait that very long either.. so that was nice...

so they actually take your passport for option 2? interesting, prolly worth it to stick around just for that reason!
