Manila Embassy Visa Same Day Pickup -- POSSIBLE ???

My wife will have her CR1 interview on August 17th. Through a fortunate set of circumstances (work sent me to Asia for this timeframe)

I WILL be present at the US Embassy in Manila for the interview.

With the USC being present at the Embassy, what are the chances that the Consular Officer will allow the Visa to be produced and picked

up the same day as the interview,,, Or, next day Embassy pickup? Personal experience is preferrable, but, opinion and conjecture is welcome.

I had read somewhere here,,, that the Consular Officer might ask if you have travel plans in the next 3 to 5 days. Anyone have this question asked?

Note: Our interview is at 8:30am on a Monday. I depart the following Sunday and was hoping to have her accompany me.

Thanks to all here on VJ. I just hope I have been as helpful to others,,, as this site has been to my wife and I.

Regards to all,

When I was at the USEM there was another VJ couple there. They did not get to pick it up but did get it via Air21 about 3 days later.

We asked to pick ours up after the interview and were simply told that if we didn't have a very good reason it wasn't allowed. The lady then said that if they made an exception for us they would have to for everyone else as well, however I know that there have been some recent vj couples that were allowed to pick theirs up the next day. As always, I think it just depends on who you ask and what kind of mood there in on that particular day. Good luck to you guys.

We were allowed to pick up our visa 2 days after the interview. I was at the interview and just said we wanted to fly back together (our flights weren't scheduled until 10 days after the interview). I would be surprised if you could pick it up the very same day - they have to attach the visa to the passport and it may not be able to be done immediately.

I was at my fiance interview, flight was scheduled 9 days later, I asked he said only way was medical emergency or flight within a 3-5 day timeframe. Best bet is to take your tickets for the flight and show them and maybe that will influence it a bit, I do know it has been said they print the visas on Tuesdays so that is the likely day you would be able to pick it up.

I have also read of others interview within few weeks of us and they got to pick theirs up with no real urgent need, not even leaving the country within 3-4 weeks and still got to pick it up.

Good Luck

Just FYI, my interview was on a Tuesday - Of course I don't know what day the visa was actually printed. I would be surprised if they were printed just one day a week but who knows...

Regards to all,

You may as long as you have compelling reason/s. I knew of a couple when I was interviewed in the US Embassy. They were scheduled to leave the next day for the United States. So they requested US embassy to pick up the visa on the same day and it took them the whole day waiting for it.

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

I got my visa 2 days after my interview BUT somebody I talked to from Manila (she just came probably 5 months or so ago) that they dont allow that anymore and so as the US citizen to be with the interviewee. :(

But what I would suggest is show them itinerary..That's what we did, my husband booked a flight for us, a week after my interview. We showed it to the CO and then approved us for a pick-up. They told us that they will call me and I was surprised that they called me same day to tell me my visa was ready. It took 2 days bcoz it was Nov. 22 which is thanksgiving day and US embassy was closed. So, try it. There's nothing wrong in trying. Best wishes. :D
