Universal health care is one of the worst ideas of all time

I am morally opposed to anesthesia. If I join a government plan can I demand that patients be kept wide awake when being cut open?

Perhaps - but only for those patients who didn't exercise the proper degree of "personal responsibility" to begin with ;)

Personally I'm leaning toward coverage excluding the clumsy or the inept.

AJ is w¡n9Nµ7 §£@¥€r now? What's with the constant handle changes, bored?

So what's different about universal health care compared to what we have now, those that work their a$$es off are still paying for it. And there are hard luck cases, all started when our government opened the doors to cheap Japanese imports in the late 60's and has only gotten worse since then. And for every buck the Japanese imported here, our government was giving them a dime back. We do not have the opportunities we once had.

This was augmented by the creation of two new agencies at the same time, the EPA and OSHA, neither had to provide any statistics as to whether they were doing any good or not. Should be obvious to even a nitwit, you don't dump sewage into your drinking water, but the rest of it was changing one form of pollution to another. Neither was there to help industry, only to fine or to shut them down, forcing them to leave this country to stay in business, more lost of opportunity. EPA also blocked using alternative fuels in the 70's, to stick with HC's and fossil fuels, kept them alive and in business resulting in even more bucks leaving this country. And more jobs lost.

This trend led to more weight on our medical industry with fewer people to pay which was back then very reasonable health insurance cost, in around 1978, a non-deductible plan cost a family about 90 bucks a month! Today that is over a thousand a month for a deductible policy.

The solution? We have to bring jobs back into this country, the rest will take care of itself, including the high cost of medical care. Also would mean a lot more tax money for the IRS, they can't tax people working in foreign countries.

 That is a horribly written article, its pure propaganda.

Where do you find this stuff AJ?

What about this is propaganda? I know you dont agree with the guys point of view but propaganda....

 I knew you pick up on that, I just knew it...

Come on... did you read that whole piece? The guy doesn't include any concrete facts whatsoever, in fact the entire thing is full of emotionally loaded rhetoric and right-wing soundbites. Not only that but the author makes false comparisons between completely issues - comparing socialised healthcare to a clause in the Geneva conventions about "collective punishment".

Propaganda is exactly what it is...

Dam straight I picked up on that, I got to keep you libs in check.

I did read that whole piece and I thought he made some pretty good points. How people that are against abortion will pay for these operations. The fact that many people have made good health choices in there life and shouldnt be punished for those who thru caution to the wind.

He makes no "good" points - everything he says is either misrepresented, exaggerated or downright dishonest.

Sorry but sensationalist rhetoric doesn't do anything for me.

Agree to disagree.

You were primed to beotch slap the lib you're holding back. Why?

I know what your up to here but no point in trying to argue the point when he doesn't take the article serious at all and just considers it all rhetoric.

Nice one you two.

As for what I have learnt about cancer:

it is an alien-type cell that devours its host even possibly with the understanding that it is killing the very thing that supports its life.

It's kind of like what most people are doing to planet Earth.

(The Matrix fans where are you?)

I have some strong beliefs about cancer, and they mostly have to do with metaphysics.

I doubt you want to read any of that.

Come to Seattle and meet me for a cup of coffee and we can chat.

I'll be here for a while.

You make me smile.

All right....I need to take a shower, feed the pets, make a cup of decadent coffee and will be back.

Please stand by...

Perhaps we can help each other by using entrepreneurial skills to create some great income too.

How about it?

Let's get out from living under bridges with our laptoppies.

Hee, hee.

Naw, my corporate masters treat me well. I've learned to enjoy my chains.
