Today we received our Notice of Action that our N-400 application was received and when we wanted to confirm the A number, we realized our green card was missing. We realized we must have left it in the copier at Kinkos when we were copying the application so we went back there to see if it had been turned in - 2 weeks ago. They had a log book that showed they did find it but they mailed it back to USCIS office -- no address listed and the person who did so wasn't available to answer any questions.

Has anyone had any experience with a scenario like this? Will the USCIS mail the card back to us? If not, we will get to go to biometrics and the interview with only a copy of the green card? If we file an I-90 for a lost card, it appears the processing time is taking longer than our local office is processing the applications for citizenship. We will call the USCIS on Monday to see if they can answer any of these questions but I was hoping that someone here might have some answers.

Thanks,

Patti

Make an infopass appointment at your local office and ask a immigration officer what they need you to do. You may need to file a I-90 or if they have the card back you may be able to get it back.
