My fiance was just dismissed from his job on June 25th. The NOA2 was appproved the other day - Fri 7/7/06 We are filling out the DS-230 form now as my fiance is not going to be in the counrty when packet three arrives. We have everything all ready to go for this sister to send it back to the embassy once packet three arrives at the home. My question is "#12 Your Present Employment." Should he write:

None

N/A

Last employment as Seamen

Does anyone know if it will be bad for his interview if he doesn't have employment when he is at the interview?

Also for education - he only has high school - should that he a concern?

thanks :)

Me again - I also forgot to ask on the DS-230 form Part 1 for "#22 In what occupation do you intend to work in the United States" We are unsure what type of work he will look for. He may look for work at the docks, maybe something mechanical, he may go to school to study a particular trade. So I am what to say and what they are looking for. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are the USC, the beneficiaries employment status is irrelevant, to the approval process. Education level is also irrelevant. List whatever occupational category he/she is in. It is really not a deciding factor though.

Don't worry, unless the USC salary is below the poverty guideline. The USC is the responsible party to this process.

I am assuming by your post that your fiance is the Applicant/beneficiary.

In Q12 It is acceptable to put 'None' if none, or one could put 'Unemployed' as that is what he is at the moment. In Q22 he will list his past job as a 'seaman' and any priors.

As to whether any of that is of any importance is up to totallity of circumstances when a conof is determining if he the applicant will or wont become a public charge. Many have been unemployed etc and had no problems.

Q22 for what he intends to do once in the US...He could put anything there...work, schooling etc. Its not like its set in concrete as a must do or else on entry.

All the best.
