It's all right you don't need to feel sorry about my situation.

We are in the Army and I don't think I needed to elaborate our situation and all about my medical situation and all. But since, you question or seem to question about "forgets" or being not too focus in this.

YOu see, I had an eye problem that I needed to stay here in the Philippines. It's not simply about forgetting it but we did not concern the VISA or AOS much versus to my health situation, after all, we primarily decided to just stay in my country because we have business here. Problem is, the Army won't approve my husband's situation to separate the Army.

I am blind in my right eye-just for you to know, only here in the Philippines I get answer for my medical treatment..even if say, US have the best medical facilities but I found my treatment here. (I went to South Korea too for my diagnosis). I had long fight over finding right diagnosis foremost, and now I found it I needed the treatment. I have Behcet's syndrome.

Because of the situation, our plans change everytime and the reason I am asking question now is to find if there's anything I can do. I know this is too late but I can't whine on this situation so I just finding solution if ever there is.

Ok, your CR-1 was clearly stamped and has served as a temporary GC. What you need to do now is track down the GC - has the Welcome to USA letter arrived at your in-laws in the States? Whose address did you give when you filled the forms? If the letter has arrived, maybe the GC has too. You definitely want to check on that.

Since you have entered in October, I'd make sure to get back to the States before the expiration of the stamp. Then follow up with USCIS if the GC has not arrived.

For SSN, even though you check you want it sent to you, that happens in maybe 1% of all cases. That's why you have to go to the SSA office and file for the SSN personally.

Best of luck to you!

HI there...

yes, meant NO disrespect to you at all in light of your circumstances at all -- find out what date is on your visa and figure out the best way to proceed and I wish you luck with everything...

I'd read it more as that you had just let it slide and not as there were situations that had presented themselves of such a dire nature.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

best,

LGG

Thank you. No mail or GC arrived in my in laws (yes, their address was the address I filed, on file). I am really unsure about the stamp for it's just a simple arrival stamp with handwritten Alien # on it. I think I would just "gamble" with my air ticket and travel with my passport with the VISA and stamps I have. No SSN arrived as well.

Thank you very much. I am pretty much keeping myself out of stress and have not to worry much. I tried my best to call USCIS but everytime I do, there's no luck. I also did lots of effort to call them when I was still in the US, but then really not lucky enough to get through. All the efforts about this VISA thing was taken aside when we decide to just stay here in my country so I thought we can do the VISA or GC process later or in low priority. But then, my husband's resignation in the Army was revoked so he have to leave Korea and move to North Carolina as his next duty station. The MOS or military order just came to our knowledge last Friday.

Right now, I purchased Manila-Las Vegas ticket to get to NC.

I am an honest and straightforward person as well, I really don't mind. I wish you all the best as well. I just want to be with my husband in his next duty station.

Hey it may not be all be lost, things can be done a lil' different if your husband is in orders with the army and is in active duty, I really don't know them completely to tell you that you may be saved and you'll be able to lift the conditions, but you could go to your embassy or have your husband call USCIS or something.

I wish you the best of lucks, and I understand you completely, when my husband was deployed we had the chance to make the paperwork and make it faster thanks to his deployment but we choose not to because I was gonna stay in Mexico with my family in the mean time, so don't listen to those who say they can't believe what you did, is probably just frustration on the process. I hope everything works out in the best way for you

Get your husband to involve assistance from your congressman - if the card never arrived and the address has not changed, you have every right to receive your card (don't pay another $380).

For SSN, when you get to the States, just go to the closest SSA office. There is an office locator on www.ssa.gov and you can also download the application form.

The stamp with a handwritten alien number is just what you should get. The I-551 is on the visa and will become valid with the stamp.

Did they collect your signature and fingerprint when you entered the US for the first time? If yes, they definitely should have issued you a green card. Don't worry too much. :innocent:

Did the stamp have CR-1 on it?

Nope just handwritten Alien #. written by an officer at POE (Portland,OR)

Thanks!

That is the I-551 stamp. Please see this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=181547&hl=

We have no alien registeration number # written by hand by the officer at the POE.The stamp is on the page adjacent to the visa

Well if you did not have a tourist (B1/B2) but only CR-1 visa when you got into the States then you were processed as a new resident. Go back to your passport and look at the visa page - what does it say and are there any stamps with a date on it - whatever kind of visa you had had to be stamped.

It just shows some Alien Resident # and stamp of my entry (date) but no stamp saying it's I-551.

I -551 is a notation on the Visa and not a stamp...I just received mine.

Look at the last line on your CR1 Visa

*k3 Visa*

08-10-2008: NOA1

03-05-2009: NOA2

05-18-2009: K3 visa approved (Mumbai Consulate)

*IR Visa*
