H everyone, I live in Argentina, a couple years ago, my mother (she is an US-Citizen) filled an I-130 - unmarried children over 21 petition - for me and my brother. Las week she got a letter telling her that our petition forms were approved. What's next?

How long we would have to wait now until a visa number is assigned to us?

Thank you for you help!

Congrats. That is good news. Your mom will in short order (time) will soon hear from the National Visa Center (NVC).

Approval of the I-130 is only the first step. You and your brother still have to wait for visas to be available in your category. You and your brother are in the F1 family preference category; US citizen petitioning for an unmarried child over 21. Those with petitions filed before Jan. 8, 2003 are currently eligible for visas. You and your brother still have several years to go before the NVC will contact you. Do not expect any correspondence until your priority date (date USCIS receives the I-130 generally) is about to become current. You can check out the visa bulletin with current priority dates here; http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_1360.html

Wrong. It takes about 6 years to get a immigration visa in the F1 category. If the petition is approved in a "couple" of years (couple generally means 2), then it will be about another 3-4 years before the NVC will contact the OP. The NVC does not correspond with the petitioner or beneficiary unless there is a change in the case.
