Oh I remember that. And not sure how much it made news but a few coconut farm owners around Port Blair reported seeing Red lights in the sky just a few days before tsunami and continued till 25th Dec.

This is one article I found, here it says tourist but back in 2004/05 as a local I heard first hand from people owning those farms.
