we're almost ready to send everything out but my question is how does the USCIS office want everything? should i simply staple everything together? or should i put everything in a folder? my concern with the folder is documents being separated and misplaced. what did everyone else do? or rather those that were approved :)

thanks again everyone for all the helpful advice. i love this site!

Most folks followed these Guidelines

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=assembly

Since what you send them will be separated - staples should be avoided (I only used staples for multi-part forms that should be kept together) and paper clips (sometimes binder clips) to keep everything together. Probably a good idea to write some sort of identification on documents/supporting-evidence that doesn't already identify the parties; things like an A# if you have one, or at least Name. We aren't on the same Visa path as you, but we were successful as well as were most folks that created/used the guidelines. The guidelines are pretty in-depth though - check it out.

I used a folder with the two prong thingy on the top. Two hole punched everything and put them in the folder. Also I used section dividers and had a section for everything.

I didn't know anything when I sent in the I-130 for my wife and me. I just put everything in the envelope and sent it. I didn't have copies of anything, either. I didn't send a cover letter. I wish I had known then what I know now, but our application was accepted and approved on 8-3. Just save your copies so that if they lose anything you have them to send. I spent months worrying about that. But have faith that they will be processing it in good time. Backup copies are what o need most if they lose anything. I sent a disorganized mess, and they figured it out and didn't lose anything. Hopefully it will work out for you, too.

It takes 8 months for us to see each other back again since we started our visa process, and now here we are reunited back again and happy together.
