Hey, i just had to get mine for my visa to VN when i visited a few months ago. God, i miss that place and my girlfriend too for that matter. :crying: OK, back to ur question:

It's simple. Go to the Office of Vital Records Office of the state you were born in. Search for it online at Goodgle or wherever. It's that easy! SOme states allow you to order it online, others may not.

songsparrow,

I had misplaced my original previously as well and ordered a certified copy, as dg2000 said, from the vital records office of the state I was born in. I can't remember the exact price (maybe $8-$10). You might request a few of them since you've misplaced your original. As it usually happens, I located my original after I received the copy.

In addition, I sent in a photocopy of this "certified copy" as my proof of U.S. Citizenship with our I-129F package, and it didn't seem to cause any problems.

Yours or Hers?

If it's hers, she can go to "Cong An Phuong/Quan" to ask for a Certified Birth Certificate (Ban Sao = copied)

If she does not live in Saigon/HoChiMinh, she needs to return to her "Tinh/Huyen/Xa" to obtain one.
