Hmmm...I am invited to a birthday party in September. I was asked to bring some kind of food. It's a big party with 40+ people. It will be a bbq garden party thing, so I am thinking either appetizers, salad or dessert.

I don't think lettuce salad is on, since it will wilt. Pasta, couscous, potato, egg salad - I think there will be a couple of those already. I was thinking maybe chickpea salad with bell pepper, red onion, feta cheese. Or maybe watermelon salad with feta and balsamic. I have a thing for feta at the moment. Or maybe serrano ham/ melon skewers, that is nice and fresh.

I somehow would rather make appetizers than a salad. My Mom (she is invited also) is making a glass noodle salad with ground beef, peanuts and sesame oil.

Any suggestions? Unfortunately I don't have an oven, so I can't do anything that requires baking.

Holy moly, I am so bored, I am thinking about what to bring to a party in a month.

Julia I made a white bean salad about a month ago with red onion, carrot, feta, lots of herbs, and I dunno what else  I put the recipe on the blog. I just make stuff without using a recipe and never remember how I did it.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I was thinking beans as well...I make a salad with kidney beans, chickpeas, corn, peppers, onion - but somehow I wanted to make something a little more elegant and not "just another salad" type thing. Although it's just a casual bbq.

Maybe I go for a variety of skewers - the melon/Serrano ones, maybe mini mozzarella balls/ mango/ coriander and lemongrass/chili vinaigrette plus the classic ones with mozzarella/ cherry tomatoes/ basil...oh thank god I still have weeks to make this oh so very hard decision. In the meantime I shall be on mission to come up with a concept for world peace. @ myself.

the skewers sound yummy and it would be something different...

maybe you could also do some fruit ones for a dessert.. like strawberries, grapes etc...

Yeah, I was thinking for dessert I could make some fruit ones with goats cream cheese which I could roll in honey and then in toasted chopped macadamia nuts. Yum yum.

I just woke up and now I am hungry again.
