No advice on cheesecake from my side Nessa, we do it differently over here and I prefer the German style :P

Last weekend before my surgery. I have to clean every frickin' corner of my place and clean out the balcony for my Mom, so she can smoke. She is staying with me from Wednesday on, since I won't be able to move my arm for a while plus I need to get back to the hospital for check ups and removal of the drainage, so she'll give me a lift. It will be nice to have her around - she's doing really well at the moment. She has been off chemo for 3 months now and her tumor marker dropped to 90 although it's been 3 months since she last had treatment. She feels active and good, so she'll be a big help. This is the first time my Mom is staying with me - ever since I moved out when I was 18! I am a little excited.

We make a dough with flour, egg, vanilla sugar, lemon zest, baking powder, pinch of salt and butter and cover the sides and bottom of a round baking dish (springform) thinly.

Then we mix quark (requeson, a thicker joghurt) with egg yolks, sugar, butter, vanilla sugar, cream and whisk it together and then carefully add beaten egg white. This mixture is poured on top of the not yet baked crust in the baking dish. Then you bake it like a cake in the oven for 1:30 hours. It's nice and light, you can buy low fat quark and use lf milk instead of the cream and it will still come out heavenly. Some people add cherries or raisins and put them on the crust before they pour the quark-egg mix on top. The US style cheese cake with the cream cheese is too heavy for me and I hate how it sticks to the gums.

Did you pick them randomly or do they mean something?

Before I left to the newsagent I googled the most drawn numbers in Lotto history and took those.

I went for 3 - 16 - 27 - 31 - 43 - 48 and bought a ticket for 2 weeks. I never play Lotto.

I love daydreaming about what I'd do if I win the lottery. I would buy a house in Mallorca for my Mom and Grandma. A nice big house for them. And a send my Mom to a super cancer specialist. :D

What would you do? Maybe I should start a thread.

Aaaahhhh, was thinking that 6 hours worth of gas would be an expensive cheesecake! Was also wondering how it was physically possible to have something delicate as a pie bake that long.

So yeah, doh! to me.

hmmmm nessa what temp do you cook it at?

if it always cracks you can try putting something on top like fruit or something so you don't see the cracks.
