I totally agree with you jodee... it's getting ridiculous and messed up over here and I'm not liking it one bit.

It should be fair across the board - everyone should get equal treatment but it feels as if some get away with so much while others do so little and are reprimanded for it.

It's about as fair and balanced as Fox News.

It is quite apparent which 'mod' was responsible for administrative action taken on the thread in question. I have no compunction about 'owning' up as I also posted two warnings about inappropriate behaviour before I closed the thread and removed the offending posts. Administrative action taken by members of the moderation team are between the individual and the mod. The individuals involved are informed exactly why any action has been taken - whether they choose to disclosel the full information to others or not.

Regardless, personal attacks are a violation of TOS, regardless of whether or not someone feels they are justified. Continuing personal attacks after being warned is a flagrant violation of TOS. Responding to another person's insults with insults and attacks of your own are still violations of TOS. What happens is not made public so unless the individuals affected choose to make the actions known, others may never know the full extent of administrative actions taken by the moderation team.

I will remind people that Visa Journey is a privately owned forum and as such, 'freedom of speech' on VisaJourney is conducted under the Terms of Service (TOS) - terms of service to which you agree to abide when you agree to become a member of VJ. If you wish to participate on VJ, then you agree to follow the TOS.

If individuals have issues with decisions made by the Moderation Team - if you are sure you know what those decisions really are - then please feel free to contact the site administrator, Captain Ewok, with your concerns. Public discussions when you are unlikely to know the full details is really not fruitful.

IR5FORMUMSIE - don't go there. You don't have all of the information surrounding the issue - only what one side has partially shared with you. It is best to let it go or send your objection to Captain Ewok. There is nothing to be gained by continuing this in the public forum.

Wow,..my comment was made about observations in general, that compounded with what happened today. I do not and never did claim to know everything, and did NOT aim it at you Kathryn. so I feel those two portions of what you said was a little unwarranted, but so be it. Thats just my opinion, just like what I posted was. Seems like it touched a nerve with you though.

Again,..people get peeved because they dont know what the wrong doing was, and how can the person concerned make their actions, or your reasons for their post removal and subsequent banning suspension known,..when you have banned suspended them. Makes communication a little hard doesn't it? Maybe a clearer explanation at the end of the post needs to be made in future. And as for the dig at me for the Freedom of Speech, regardless of whether it is a public or private forum, it is quite obvious which way this site has gone. You can barely sneeze in here anymore.....

And a less judgemental approach to the people know for being "forthright" in their opinions needs to be made too. There was more than one person at fault today..

Sorry for the faux pax charles...let me please replace all "banned" for "suspended". either way,..same scenario. cant get the persons side of the story immediately because they are suspended?...i think the suspension hammer is swung too freely lately...

I am going to take up part of the TOS with ewok though, as it is a bit ambiguous....

I would like to think that this area has an implicit caveat already, people who come here have certain expectations. With respect to the suspension, how can we decide if no one reports it? Can we even determine what constitutes egregious conduct?

I'm with you on this one jodee, as far as I'm concerned, any censure or sanction is odious unless there is an open disclosure of the facts. How can we get the whole story without input from from all sides?

For my own personal edification humor me. What were the facts that gave rise to the suspension? By all means remove the names of the parties involved but give us the facts. Is that too much to ask? I think not.

I really believe there are a lot of double standards on this board as of late, thats why i do not post much on here anymore. There's no such thing as freedom of speech on here. And when a spade is called a spade, its not allowed. This board was a good source for a long time, and now the petty ####### just overrides everything. Even when somebody does something wrong, its deleted, so it can't be seen. Would of thought it would be better to leave it there, so as people have a reference of what they can and can't say around here anymore.

Bottom line is, this is a public board, and all people are not going to get along, if they wanna fight, let them fight, as long as there is no derogatory name calling going on, or any racism cards being pulled its all good, it becomes a good debate. People should not start things they dont know how to finish, and if they do start something, they need to have a thick skin to go along with it, and stop crying wolf, when the going gets tough as not all people are going to agree.

Its a shame really, because a lot of smart, intellectual, knowledgable people are being kicked to the curb, and not wanting to return because of this rubbish. I appreciate all perspectives and points of view, but when threads have to be muted or editted because some one doesn't like hearing the truth, it makes you wonder.

This place needs to stop being so PC all the time for fear of someone having a cry over something they dont wanna read/see/hear...

You are right that limited arguing is ok. We are adults. It is when the name calling and other actions become personal and vindictive.... etc.. I also strongly would want to remind everyone on VJ of the nice little "ignore" feature where you can simply add a person and ALL their topics ans posts will be *poof* hidden. WRT to Len, I believe it was something minor and they are already unsuspended. I am sure Len can communicate with you the reason however per the TOS/Privacy Policy I don't dig up records and spread them around the open forums. Any time a member is suspended (or another member that may have an interest in) I can be contacted (see the TOS for instructions) and I will review a decision. The contact us form goes directly to my Blackberry for rapid response (please do not spam me!! ).

Please (before it starts) also don;t parse my words and hold them to the feet of mods or myself even. Every situation is unique and often there is multiple sources of information (that everyone may not have insight into) that is used when reaching moderation decisions.
