Well, not really empty, actually quite ok. But I decided to stop buying so much stuff I don't need and to save some money and that gave me the inner mantra of "I am poor, I am poor" and that got me really depressed and I walk around the streets like a stray cat, not daring to go into stores (like the new MAC store...) because I know I get a shopping collapse followed by a horrible shopping hang over and countless whys on why I needed three lipsticks, eyeliner I never use and and had to have a whole brush collection for 400 euros.

I am miserable. :( *siiiigh* I will go home and listen to Sia's album "Other people have real problems".

OK. when there is a new MAC store, you sell your undies to perverts on Ebay and go shop. It is in the Good Book. Makeup items you do not use should be mailed to Seattle, Washington. It is also in the Good book :innocent:

Julia I've been able to curb my spending but I still splurge every once in awhile. It was really hard at first. It gets easier. I give myself a weekly allowance to buy whatever I want and everything else goes into savings.

My most recent splurge was a TV for my bedroom. I decided I hate having a TV in my bedroom and it's not in my "office".

My inner sunshine is kind of gone. I think it's the hormones. My Mom's ill, my account empty, my bear far away, I am sick and bla bla *insert emo ####### here*...just one of those emo days I guess. Meh.

Your inner sunshine is not gone. It's just resting and..... ####### you account is empty??? THAT is wrong :o

Hey you sound like me. :P Just had to comment.

We aren't poor, we are doing well, but we save a lot of money which means a lot less spent on material things. So sometimes I avoid going to stores because it's just not fun if you can't spend. Just remember you really don't actually need a bunch of a similar item...in the future you will be happy you spent less instead of depressed. You could always go somewhere and put a limit on yourself. I literally will say to myself, I will only spend $5 on some dumb thing just to buy something. You can buy nail polish or a yummy coffee for under $5. And it works for me but I am very cheap. ;) My husband is extremely frugal, and he made me even more spending cautious. Sometimes too cautious and that's when I get the stray cat/I'm poor feeling. And it happens when comparing to others too. But then when I realize the savings we have accumulated I feel a little happy and secure.

Aww Stina, I am glad you can relate. Maybe I should buy some new earrings at your shop. ;)

I kind of have a budget and think I can only spend this much a month after having paid my bills, but I lose track quickly because I don't write it down and then I end up spending it all and have nothing left. And no I really have to start saving for some upcoming things and I am scared to buy anything because I worry I'll lose it.

I know it seems ridiculous to some, but I was never taught how to save money, I could always buy what I wanted. I had a brief phase of not having money back in Melbourne, but that seriously taught me nothing.

B1tches (and sister Stina, who is not a b1tch)... here's what I do with my spending habits. I LOVE shopping. I swear. So, what I do is browse the net for makeup reviews, read them over and over, ask you all about it; then go an use my Saturday tips ONLY and buy one thing. ONE say, MAC eyeshadow; or one Stila eyeliner, or ONE something. Works like a charm, keeps me occupied and I don't overspend.

The joys of a second job is a bit of extra money that goes to savings. Like Stina, we are saving like it's going out of style. And I know it is worth it.

Julia, maybe get a weekend gig? just to pay for those.... OMFG are those Blahniks????????

Well, I was thinking about a weekend job - or something after work. But my job doesn't allow side jobs and the thing is that I do a lot of overtime, sometimes on weekends also, so I would be unrealiable. Plus - I really make enough money, I just have to learn how to spend it like a normal person and not some crazy shoppaholic. No more €700+ lenses. No more H&M shopping trips worth several hundred Euros. No more pointless internet shopping because I have nothing else to do and VJ is boring. That should do it. I just need the occasional b1tch slap.

Once Pedro lives here, things will change anyway since I save heaps on flights and hardcore shopping in the US. But then I have someone lives here that eats like a bear.

Yeah that sounds like me. Also, I made a deal with me that I try on every item of clothing I want to buy instead of just taking it home. Today, I saw this awesome turtle neck jumper. I tried it on and looked like a sausage rool, so I didn't buy it. Yay me!

The other day I bought a cheap face cream. Usually I go to the fancy cosmetic store and buy Chanel/ Shiseido/ Clinique. This time I went to the drug store and bought a rip off of a L'Oreal, that is how cheap I am!!111 A new era has begun. Plus I am reading a financial advice book for women my Mom got me years ago that I never read.
