YES

I haven't been to Westminster in like 15 years, though I've driven past it a few times on the 405. I moved to NorCal in '93. I've heard Little Saigon has grown a lot since I was there last.

Welcome to Little Saigon.

Thanks! I've still got family and friends down there, but most have moved inland to Riverside and S.B. county because you can buy a big house for a lot less money. We sometimes get to Long Beach to visit my daughter's maternal grandparents. It's a short hop to Westminster from there.

Give me a holler if you ever make it up the SF Bay Area. Where I live, on the east side of the bay, there's a good size VN community, but it's not concentrated into one area like Little Saigon. The upside is that, no matter where you go in town, you're never more than a few minutes away from a VN restaurant.

At the south end of the bay, in San Jose, there's a rapidly growing VN community that's beginning to resemble Little Saigon in many ways. I was in a coffee shop in San Jose with 'Cậu Vân' (you know the kind of coffee shop I'm talking about  ) and somebody suggested they should call the VN district in San Jose "Little Saigon". Somebody else said 'no, that name is already taken by Westminster'. Somebody else suggested, because San Jose is nearly 400 miles north of Westminster, that they should call it "Little Hanoi". The old guys at the table got really pissed. I thought they were going to beat him to death with their coffee glasses - death by ca phe sua da! :o

I'm leaving on the 'red eye' from SF to HCM tonight. Gonna be there for 2 weeks! 7 nights in Hue, 2 nights in Hoi An, 2 nights in Da Lat, and then 2 nights in HCM! I ordered a hand made guitar from a luthier in HCM in April, and I'm going to pick it up this trip!

Dang. Now I'm gonna be listening really hard to see if they're really saying "Chim". :(

At our dinh hon party, the sign on the back of the stage was made from those red glittery foam letters. "Thi Phuong - James". All the letters were beautiful, but the "J" looked like it was carved with a hacksaw by a 6 year old. For the sign in front of the restaurant they cheated. Their stock capital letter "T" has a little hook on it, so you just flipped it over. :P

Sure, thanks. I do have friends live up north of CALI. In SSSSan Franscisco. If you know what I mean.. hahaha.. j/k . I will sure give you a call....

Yeap. House in OC is crazy. .. like a sky-rocks.. price between $400k-$600k. People are still buying it. from the Area of Westminster, Garden Grove, and specially city of Fountain Valley. But, I don't live close to little Saigon. I am living 5 minutes away from THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH, and the CITY OF ANGELS of Anaheim.

The guy sure to be very lucky that old men didn't beat the hell out of him.. hahahaha... Remember, there is only one LITTLE SAIGON in Southern Cali. and in this world. Don't trying to innovative by use other name like little Ho Chi Minh, or little Hanoi. You will get BLACK-EYES in OC for no reason.. hihihih.. j/k :whistle::whistle:
