congress man - maybe we do that, I'm just so tired of dealing with that, I have other things to do and the whole process took so long for us, I'm dealing with this since 5 years more or less

I understand your frustration, but if you get your congressman involved on checking on your status, if they are effective, then you will hear from CSC within a few weeks after they inquire! You can do as TracyTN suggested is to go ahead and file for your naturalization when you become eligible.

How does becoming a US citizen prevent you from being a 'world traveler'?

I guess best would be to have both Citizenships because than I can work in 28 countries (EU has 27 right now). Just the idea makes me happy. But you are right, a US Citizen has a lot less problems just going to other countries. It is more a feeling on where I was born and grew up. It is not a pair of socks to change that Citizenship.

Actually, with a GC you will have 1 country to work in since working in Europe means you have to live there to work and that will interrupt your residence here and could cause you problems in the future... therefore, citizenship will allow you to live outside the US without any problems ;)

I guess I've never seen gaining US citizenship as some kind of a 'slight' on your home country (nor does my UK hubby). You'll always be German no matter what any piece of paper says. All citizenship does is grease the wheels for your travels, as well as opening up avenues for you and your spouse to move back and forth between Germany and the US (if it ever becomes necessary) without further cost and grief.
