I'm hoping to be recieving my NOA2 any day now. There is one question that I haven't been able to get an answer for. I want to know if you'll can help me out. The NVC states that I'll need to submit a police report for my husband, along with other documents. Now I've heard different things and sort of confused. For Nigeria, does he have to send it to me to be submitted during the NVC process ,or does it wait until he receives his packet at the embassey. He pretty much has everything ready to mail me so we can breeze through NVC, but the police report we are wondering about. I've decided to go the CR-1 route. Anyone that has been through NVC, your help will be greatly appreciated. Yes for police report now or no for police report until it's transferred to Embassey. Thanks alot!

My husband is Nigerian, but lives in Senegal so we are going through Dakar. He got his PCC from Nigeria and sent it to me along with the PCC from Senegal. I sent them with the DS-230 packet to NVC. Of course I made copies and sent them along with copies of everything else and another 2 to 3 pounds of evidence of bonafide marriage to him for his interview next week.

The embassy is the one that wants the police report. never heard of NVC needing it.

Yes, He is supposed to bring the police report with him to the interview. There is a an expiration date to the report, so you do not want to get it too early.

Wow I'm a bit confuse now. So no police report as for now? I was reading LingChe Shortcuts and it listed a few things from beneficiary and it was listed. Maybe it was referring to all the items overall

NVC forwards everything to the embassy.

OP is applying for IR1/CR1 so everything is sent to the NVC for review FIRST before it's sent to the embassy. My understanding is that it's a different process than with a K1 or K3.

Follow the LingChe guide, it's a great guide.

Actually it's the NVC that checks you out and makes sure that your eligible to file for your fiance and Lagos will check out your fiance, so he would need to bring the police report with him to the interview in Lagos. They will make sure he's eligible to come into the states.

Oh, and like mentioned earlier, the police report usually has a expire date so he shouldn't get it too early.

I seee, I understand that the police report has expiration if given too early. what would you suggest just wait for NVC to start generating mails or should we just totally wait on the report until he get's his packages at the embassey. Will I get a RFE if I don't send a police report to NVC for the CR-1? I just want to know do NVC require a police report or not.

NO you are going for an CR1 you need to send it with the DS-230 packet! I have heard of people sending in copies of report and just getting a letter saying to bring the original to the interview, but I haven't heard of anyone NOT sending in the REQUIRED documents and it just sliding by (it's probably happened but I personally haven't heard of it).

My perspective - why on earth would you set yourself to get an RFE and delay your process?? Wait until your case has been received by NVC before sending your husband to get the police report.

ohhh kay, gotcha. He told me yesterday that he will wait til our case gets to NVC in a week or so, then send everything to me shortly after. The police department told him it will take a day if he arrives early in the morning. Thanks for answering my question for me. I feel relieved now.
