hello mena forums! :star:

It's finally time for me to start getting together my I-130 package to submit to the embassy. I'm really excited to finally start moving forward.. insha'Allah everything goes smoothly.

I've filled the G-325a mostly for both me and my hubby. Am I right to put none in file number, or is the number the embassy gave me for coming in to file my I-130 the number? Is it OK to use abbreviations in some places? For example, in my City and Country of Birth, I couldn't fit the name of my city Indianapolis, so I put Indps. Would it be better to attach a separate paper to the form referencing that question and writing the full name? I already have to add an extra form because I don't have enough slots for my work history.

As for employment regarding my husband, he was a student until just recently. In the summer he has worked some random jobs, but they were not so official. For example he worked distributing cheese around Alex this past month with a distributor whose business doesn't even have a name. Should these types of jobs be included in his employment history?

As for his residence, its tricky. Technically he lives during the school year in Damanhour because of his college and his dads work and his parents own a house there. In the summer, after school ends they automatically go to Alexandria where they have a home as well. In his residence portion, I should just list over and over for the last 5 years that he switches between them in this time?

The paper attached to fill in additional information on the form that can't fit in the box should be computer paper, yes?

As for my documents to prove I'm a US Citizen, I don't have my birth certificate with me. I do have my passport though, of course. I'm copying every page of it as well as having it there with me. This will be enough, right?

As for the proof of our relationship (alongside our marriage certificate of course), we have a joint ownership of a apartment and we are getting that document translated. I was also planning on bringing his bank statements showing our money was put together. We also have a wedding ring receipt, most of it is english with a few small parts in Arabic. That should be a pretty good start!

Any tips and help are appreciated. :]

Yes that's awesome!! He can actually leave with you if everything goes well insha Allah.

Concerning your Qs..

I don't know what a file number is....but the number you have for the I-130 is a case number. You can use abbreviations with states but the city has to be clear. If there is no room try to fill it online and print it out; it's always better and give you room to change anything you want without messing the form up. I don't think it's ok to attach any papers to the form. Try to put everything there as much as you can. Do not add anything for your husband's work as long as there is no reference or something the embassy can go back to; to check on his background. Just put he is a student, where and for how many years. For his residence use the one that is used more often; If he has an ID which address is on there?

Copying your passport is enough evidence of your Citizenship. I don't think the receipt for the ring is a proof of the relationship; the bank statements and the apt. lease or contract is good. Again don't send any additional -not required- papers. Fill it online so you can have room and have it clear.

I hope I answered everything you asked! LOL I hope someone who knows more about DCF would come and help you more. praying for the both of you to have a quick and smooth journey :D

Well, when I fill in the PDF sometimes the information doesn't fit. I read to attach a piece of paper to the form referencing the number to the question and to supply the information that doesn't fit. So it is not OK?

His ID has a really old address, as does his passport. :[

You can fill it out online but leave the long cities(or anything else that doesnt fit) blank and then hand write them in (we did that without issue).

You can attach another piece of paper if you need to....write what form its supplementing and what item number as well as your name and contact info on top. yes, computer paper is good

If he has worked "odd" jobs with no contact info..you can leave that blank or write that he worked "freelance" in the market in Alex from ____ to _____ dates. Y had a short period like that and this is what we did.

Also, as HLM said.. I would pick one address to include and use it only instead of having to use one line for just a months period.

Oh ya, and the file number is "N/A"

Good Luck :)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Has anyone had a problem getting their translations certified by the ministry of foreign affairs? My hubby went there today to get them done and they said they do not authenticate private businesses, basically saying our translations are useless! He tried telling them it was listed for the embassy, but he just blahed blahed about regulations....

What kind of translations are you talking about? I had our marriage certificates done at the ministry or justice in their translation department also his police record was done there. His birth certificate was translated at the ministry of health. His military paper was done at a translation office. I didnt translate the deed to our apartment.. I wonder if I should..I plan on mailing our packet 3 out tomorrow.
