Hey everyone

I was wondering, how fast can you get your workpermission after you are married comin in on the K1 visa?

I got the impression that it was right away but it seems i am wrong.

So let's say, hypotheticly, i Enter the US aug 1st 2009. I marry aug 2nd 2009. When can i get to work and bring in the bread for the family?

Thank you so much for every answer!

One love, two hearts, One joint mind. This is a once in a lifetime kind of love...

As soon as you get your EAd or work permit. You can work without the green card yet as long as you have the Employment authorization usually 90 days after application.

As soon as you file for AOS it generally takes 60-90 days from there. You should file for EAD and AP if you want also and the EAD is the authorization to work.

If you arrive in USA at JFK Airport, it is said that they will issue you a temporary work permit when you are processed.

My lawyer also said that if you go through JFK they stamp a temporary 90 day work permit.

This means that you could probably work immediately, but check into this as I am not sure of this.
