My husband and I were married on Tuesday, so I know that he is here legally. Unfortunately, we didn't do the research to find out that it's much easier to get a SS# with a valid visa. Since his K-1 officially expires today, does anyone know how we can get a SS# for him so we can fill out the EAD so he can work while we go through the AOS process?

All advice welcome. I can't believe how much research I did to get the K-1 and how little I've done once he got here!!!

Thanks so much.

Now that his K1 has expired he can not receive a SS#. He will have to wait until he has his green card to apply. On a K1 you must apply before they last 14 days of validity read more here.

You don't need a SSN number to fill out the EAD just say NONE .. and now that the visa has expired you cannot get a SSN until you get the EAD ... just do your AOS package and put NONE for the SSN number then when you get the EAD then go and get the SSN
