Sandrila sorry to hear about the interfering ex in laws. I had an ex-monster in law that worked every day to drive me and ex hubby apart. It is really frightening how much power these people have. Hope you get it resolved quickly!

Jess,

Absolutely I have solid reasons why our son should not have his permit and quite frankly whatever reasons we, as parents, decide to withhold our permission is totally at our discretion and no one else's.

it is too long a story to recount and I have headaches everyday stemming from the fact that we allowed our 2 older children be in the presence of such lethal people. People who have taught our children that they are above their parents and the law.

My son's grandfather has the same name as my ex.

So he is literally getting away with it for that reason.

They even went as far as to obtain the physical, birth cert and SS card reissued and/or copied and notarized because WE hold all the originals. They went to great lengths to do this and quite frankly I believe it is illegal for them to do that.

So I had to fill out 2 forms and get my ex's sign off on all (he has legal custody) and I am overnighting it to Harrisburg to CANCEL this permit.

wow i would really be PO'd

Hey, I hope everyone is doing well! My daughter and I made it to Egypt last night... and I know it for sure, because a toktok just drove by blaring a sax rendition of "Happy Birthday" :jest: Anyway, it is hot here, but I was expecting that. It doesn't seem to be bothering Abigail much, which I'm glad for. I think the thing she's missing most is our DVR and Nickelodeon. Being with Ahmed again has been worth the misery of the flight, but it is certainly a different dynamic being here with a kid. This was kind of my retreat before, now it's just like being at home, except two people are asking me for food instead of one :P

Where's all my girls at??

Mornin.

Hey Donna. GG...only ONE WEEK LEFT!!!! Give em hell girl!

Angel have fun at the beach girlfriend.

Opinions...what if you found out that your 16 year old son got his learner's permit without your knowledge or consent?

What if you someone you knew told you they saw him driving in the car with his grandfather (ex's dad) and you didn't even know he had gotten the permit because you and your ex would not sign for him.

So now i know that against our wishes, BLATANTLY, this old man took MY son and posed as HIS PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN after we firmly stated to both of them it wasn't going to happen! He got it 3 months ago.

To say I am beside myself these days it an understatement.

I pat myself on the back for getting up everyday, doing my work and not running away or having a nervous breakdown.

What he did was illegal and if it were me I would seek legal advice to see if any charges

should be filed against this man. Have you confronted your son yet? I would be very anxious

to see what his answer would be when you ask him how he managed to get his permit without

your or your ex's consent. Not a good thing he did. I would be livid. I would also hope your son

will take responsibiity for what he did. Best wishes and I hope very much you can resolve this

problem without alot of conflict from the grandfather or your son.

ITA with this, legal action should be taken!! Goodluck!!!

Happy Thursday everyone...

Nothing much going on here....just confused with the embassy in Egypt; they asked for my dad's name to be sent via DHL; which is very weird because it is in the application!! and they didn't even explain how do they want it, what kind of document would they want it on?!! They just leave you hanging in the air!! anyways my dad will photo copy his passport and his ID and send them off and let's see where that takes us.

Amysaid- Glad you made it safely sis. Have a great time! I know it's very hot there my mom tells me they avoid doing anything in the morning!

Sandrilla- I don't know legally what takes place in these situations but yes I would be upset too!! I think you should take a stand actually and let them know you are not going to be played!

Happy you made it! How did your daughter enjoy the flight? Know you are happy to be with your

hubby!!! Have fun!!

She did pretty well, I expected a few more "are we there yet?"' questions, but overall she did well. our first flight was portland, oregon to seattle, washington, so she got her feet wet on that one with just a short flight. she'd never flown before, so she liked it. on our second flight, seattle to paris, it was the longest leg and she got a little antsy toward the end. she didn't sleep at ALL until right as we made our final descent into paris, of course. so i had to wake her up after sleeping about 20 minutes, then drag her through the 1.5 hours in line at the security checkpoint, and she was hungry and exhausted and i was exhausted and in pain from carrying around four carry-on pieces of luggage. (i don't care if i have to sell my stuff on the street, i'm not taking all of those back on the plane with me!) on the third leg of the trip, paris to cairo, she slept pretty much the whole way. she befriended the woman seated next to us, and the lady let her lean on her lap and sleep that way, so it was good. she arrived in Cairo awake and ready to face the honking, crazy traffic, and criticize the neighborhood we live in: Her exact words were "this doesn't look like a good place to live. it's filthy." -_- I couldn't fault her, she just said aloud the same thing that I thought in my head the first time I came here.

Good afternoon Mena!

Sandrilla-I agree with everyone else. Legal recourse. I just do not understand how something like that could happen- wow. I would be so PO'd!

Amysaid-Have a great time in Egypt! One of the places I would like to see sometime!

As for me, went to an educational conference today and realized within 1 hour that I already implement many of the strategies she was going over- so it was pretty much just a review and I got very sleepy. (also not used to getting up early in the summer!) Then I came home to find that the Damascus Embassy still has us listed as pending.... This next week will be hard for me because it was a year ago tomorrow that I got on a plane alone and flew to Syria to meet Ghassan. I can't believe it has been a year ago! I wish I could go back to see him but there are just too many issues with it. :( I just pray AP gets done within the average time. This is one time I want to be an "average" joe or below average! lol.
