My wife in Romania should be receiving her DS-3032 this week. From everything I've read, it's really to be used if you're using an attorney. Since many of you have gone through this process successfully, is it best for my wife to continue receiving the mail directly or should I become her 'agent' and receive her mail here in the States? She does speak and read English fluently so language is not an issue. Is there an advantage to doing one way vs. the other?

Thank you all so much for your insights and for sharing your experiences.

If you become the agent the advantage is time.. i.e you will recieve mail faster than your wife, you can then FedEx or UPS the documents to her.. rather than waiting a few weeks for your wife to recieve each form..

Your wife can select anyone as her choice of agent. However, it is better that she selects you as her choice of agent, because NVC will mail all correspondence of NVC process to you instead of her. It will save time for you to receive these correspondence and send them promptly because of your US address. Instead of sending the DS 3032 form to your wife, you can have your wife e-mail NVC to select you as her choice of agent. NVC will reply the email in about 2-10 days. Many of us here including myself had our spouses email NVC and were successful. Your wife should also copy you the NVC email that she would send. The NVC email address: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Below is a sample email that she can send NVC. Always put the case number on the email subject line:

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is ******* ***** ****. My date of birth is ***** **** ***. The case number assigned by the NVC is: *** **********.

My husband told me that you mailed me the DS 3032 form (for selecting my choice of agent) by mail. But I have not recived the mail yet. I want to appoint my husband, the petitioner as my choice of agent. All future correspondence from NVC should be sent to his US address. His name and address are below:

Name: ************** (Date of Birth: ***********)

Address: **********

*********

xx *****

U.S.A

I am copying this email to my husband. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Name

Country Name

Note: This is just a sample email from my wife to NVC.
