time frame on RCMP checks

Hi, I asked this question on the IMBRA forum, but have posted here as well, as this forum is Canada specific ... We will be submitting the I-129F petition at the end of the month and I am hoping to wait out most of the process in the US. I would like to get the ball rolling on everything that I can before I leave here as I want to limit the number of times I try to cross the dreaded border.

In reading other threads I have discovered that the Montreal embassy will accept criminal reference checks done within 12 months of the interview date. Does anyone know if with the new IMBRA if this will be affected? I gather that it is necessary to send the criminal record in with packet 3 in order to be granted an interview date. I guess I am specifically asking if anyone has recieved the list of 'needed documents' since the IMBRA came into effect and whether they are now asking for a check to have been done within a shorter time frame.

Also, while I am asking ... what is the timing on the medical? Do I have that done just before the interview and then take the results with me to the consulate? Or is that something as well, that needs to be done well in advance? AND ... if so, does it matter if I do it in the US or in Canada? (I have read some very helpful threads on who to go to in the Toronto area - thank you!)

I know that these are a lot of questions, but now that I think I have a handle onthe initial application, I am also trying to plan for what is to come - just so I don't get caught with mypants down, lol!

Got a reply on the IMBRA forum about the police check (of course the new law only affects the USC so I dont' know what I was thinking!!) Thanks anyway for anyone who would have said the same thing.
