Gwen,

We're all entitled to our beliefs. And you know as well as I do that allowing yourself to fall into the trap of justifying your personal beliefs and choices on VJ is... well, bad :)

Oh, no, it's fair enough if she thinks strip clubs are bad. I'm not challenging that; it is, after all, her marriage and her right! I'm just interested in delving more into her point of view. Layla obviously is a woman of strong convictions; it would be interesting to see what lay behind them. I'm not asking her to defend them, nor am I attacking them and saying "YOU SHOULD GO HUG A STRIPPER!". :)

I think it's a pretty well known fact "why"

Given the number of women on this thread who have said they wouldn't mind or care, or the ones who have explained it as their own insecurities; no, it's not immediately obvious as to why you, personally, believe it's bad. I'm not attacking your convictions, I'm merely interested in getting a better understanding of your own, personal, strong-convictioned point of view. I'm not saying it's a bad thing!

Grr. Double post.

Like you really don't know :P

Religion.

They're only nominally against mine, a tenant many people choose to ignore-it certainly doesn't always provoke people into saying they'd divorce a man for going. Is it wrong that I want to know more about her point of view, or what part of her religion dictates this vehement response? I don't even know what Layla's religion *is*, I don't see the harm in asking to know more.

Weird. We just had this convo yesterday as we drove by the only strip joint in town. I said I wouldn't be mad if he went for 'special' things, bachelor parties and whatever but I'd be a little worried if he went there for a beer & sports every Friday night or something. I also said I'd like to go too :)

Yes, I do call saying she'd divorce her husband-the man she has pledged her love and life to-for going to a strip club a vehement response.

Let's not forget that he also pledged his love and life to me as well and he would be violating my trust and the sanctity of our marriage if he did such a thing. Like I said, it is not only my belief that it's "bad" but his as well so it's not likely to be an obstacle in our marriage.

To answer your other questions. I am muslim and this is something forbidden in my religion (Islam). My religion comes first in my life and I draw on it to make any and all decisions about anything and evertying that happens. :) I didn't want to get into it here but since you asked...

No, thank you very much for replying! I know it was something of a nosy question, I just think that's the most vehement response I've ever seen to the threads on this subject that crop up here every so often. No offense intended! And it's good that you have beliefs and convictions which are shared by your husband-my religion may not be the same as yours, but I have found the same in my marriage and can appreciate the value of that.

gwen ... gwen ... gwen ...

it shouldn't take that much research to figure out her religion! the majority of people who think it's unequivically 'bad' are those that deep into their religion! ;)
