That definitely makes for an interesting matter of perspective. I suppose since I've known so many strippers, and know that 90% don't actually give a rat's ### about their customers besides parting them from their money, it makes for a different point of view.

To be honest, I'm not sure. Maybe because porn is one stage removed from reality - it's a recording, not actually happening for real as he watches.

Gwen, I think porn can be shared by both partners, if that's what you're into. But a strip club is different in that it's got this whole just-for-men atmosphere. I think I would feel silly in a strip club, although I've always wanted to go to one to find out.

If women feel more threatened by strippers than porn actresses, it's probably because the strippers ARE in fact real women, in THEIR towns, with bodies often hotter than theirs (depending on the joint/on the wife). *Although certain PARTS of the strippers' bodies may not be real.

I've never thought about strippers' bodies being 'hotter' than mine. I think I'm pretty hot myself. It's something to do with the live action. Not sure I can explain it logically, it's just visceral.

Ahh, now that depends on if you're at a good club or not-the good ones, the truly fun ones, cater to women just as much. I've never had a problem going to one, with men or women or both. We did only stick to the good clubs, not the seedy ones or the known scary ones!

They come from everywhere, and not all of them are looking towards pro work. The amateur and "pro-am" productions are just as big-and these people are your neighbours, the people in line with you at the shops, etc. Local stuff is out there, when one knows where to look. It's not particularly difficult to find-or even to be invited into. Far easier to get an invitation to a "party" than it is to go home with a stripper.

Yeah, I know that's true that porn actresses are from far-off places, but that's sort of the fantasy... anyway, I personally am not threatened by strippers, or porn-actresses, although my SO is not as in to that stuff as most other guys...

Hmm, I have taken some time to come to terms with the whole strip joint thing. Coming from a place where I dont even think there were any, to Las Vegas has been quite the adjustment! Of course everyone here is as blase about going to a strip club as they are about going to the bathroom, and im slowing adjusting.

T hasnt been to one since Ive been here yet, because of my concerns- but of course he will eventually. His sis wanted to take us all on his birthday, which I eventually agreed to- luckily it didnt happen- I think I would have HATED it! But you never know I guess.

But why? That's the thing I don't get! She's not there for your man, or any man-she's there for the money and the attention. The fact that you would feel that way is proof that the stripper is successful-she's created the illusion of seduction, which is what she's paid to do-but there's no reason you should feel at all threatened by someone who is just doing their job (and is probably eyeing up the next patron as she lap dances on yours). Good strippers are businesswomen first and foremost, after all.

There's a difference between the chronic strip club visitor and the average man, though. If your man was the chronic variety, I can understand being hurt. However, if-like most patrons of the titty bar-he goes once in a while with a group of friends, does that have the same impact? What if it's not his idea, but where his friends suggest they spend the evening? Just wondering.

Aww Stina, given your avatar, why on EARTH could you think that he would be disappointed in the REAL and GENUINE woman waiting for him when he got home? If you took a poll, I bet a real woman would win out over a stripper every. single. time. Strippers sell the illusion of sex, and I don't think that (the normal occasional strip club visting male, Joe Average) a man walks through the doors of a club without knowing that it's just that. There's a big difference between the type of man who needs to go to a strip club every night of the week and a man who goes along with his buddies (maybe his single buddies?) once in a while. You can bet he's not thinking about the girls on the stage, he's thinking of the one at home-just like the girls are probably thinking about their own man. Stripping is a big, overblown illusion-like porn, only live. That's not to say it isn't okay to not like it-plenty of people don't! But thinking of it as genuine is very misplaced; the stripper is less interested in your man than she is his wallet.
