My wife knows the mayor, we have friends who are good friends with the governor of Arkansas. When I first came, I had a recommendation letter from Mike Huckabee. Do you think that things like this may help?

Mayor = city government

Governor = state government

Immigration = federal government

Mike Huckabee might have been able to help if he had become President

Immigration Attorney is what you need

The reason I mentioned those people is because they're people of reputation. That's all :)

What does this mean?

Going through papers I found a NOA dated 4/23/2002 (my card expired 4/25/2002).

It reads among other things:

"YOUR ALIEN CARD IS EXTENDED 12 MONTHS - EMPLOYMENT AND TRAVEL AUTHORIZED. PROCESSING YOUR FORM WILL REQUIRE A MINIMUM 120 DAYS. IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM US WITHIN 6 MONTHS, THEN YOU MAY CONTACT OFFICE"

So, what does this mean?

On the very top, among some fields, it has under CASE TYPE: "FORM I-751"

How does that change my case???

I'm about to pull my hair! So, knowing that my wife did apply for the I751 but we never received anything after that. This was the time of my seizures so, I was out of it. Anyways, does anyone know what the quote above means to my case?

Thank you very much!

Once again,

your wife started the Removal of Conditions process (I-751) for you. Since you became ill, nobody followed through. Your best defense is to find a capable immigration attorney who can pledge for you to get your case reinstated to the status quo when you got the NOA1.

I have no idea if that is possible, but I know it will be impossible for you to do that on your own. Since your wife is now incooperative, the alternative for you is to move back to Brazil and not to visit the US for at least the next 10 years. Doubtful if your wife will visit you with your child in Brazil.

You need to contact a very experienced immigration attorney. It will cost you thousands of dollars, no doubt, but what would it cost you to move back to Brazil?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

My wife is cooperating. We're working things out.

My memories of the times are very blurred because of the seizures but I figure that we've never received a follow up from the USCIS.

What you have in your hands is your NOA .. or your extension letter. After that, you are supposed to do biometrics (usually within a month or so) and then after that, you either get an interview, or hear about your approval/denial.

This does not change your course of action ... just gives you something else to give to your lawyer. See if you can find the biometrics notice. That should have come automatically.

Have you found a good lawyer yet, by the way?

I will check that but unless it got lost in the mail, I don't think we ever received it.

No, I don't have money for a lawyer, but have an appointment on 04/25 with one from the Catholic Charities. Are they free? She'll charge me $25 for the consult. I don't know if she will charge after that... my wife told me I am on my own with that. But I know she will help me with the paperwork (I guess signing the papers).

Catholic Charities is recommended on here, but I don't know anything about their pay structure. Be careful though ... if they can't help you, then you will need to get a lawyer ... even if it means going in to debt for it. Anyway, you should already know that since that's what everyone keeps telling you here. It would be ill advised to take any advice that you get on here as your only alternative since your case is unique and most of us aren't USCIS employees.
