Is it just possible that regular doctors/specialist visits and the odd MRI don't count towards my deductible, that's why I don't know?

Doctors visits don't go towards the deductible. That is what your co-pay is for.

I'd be surprised if an MRI didn't count towards the deductible.

I got it done, they didn't ask for any money. Do they ask me later?

They will (send you a bill that is) if you have a deductible.

The Obama plan must be like tax for clunkers? I also wonder if the goverment will have a co-pay for the lip balm your gonna need to make it easier to suckle the govament teet?

You're strangely obsessed with suckling - seems to be a common theme in a lot of your posts.

I hope you're not one of those guys who goes in for that adult baby / domination thing.

They bill your insurance company first - the claim gets denied (counting towards your deductible). After the hospital gets the denial, you get a bill.

Yeah I can attest to that - had a few of those recently. Of course... receiving a bill does not mean that you're supposed to pay it - sometimes you're sent these things because of administrative error. Either that or you're supposed to spend hours of your time calling up your insurance company on behalf of the provider.

I think visits to doctors and hospitals that are affiliated with the PPO don't count towards the deductible.

Ok. I guess I will know soon!

A blood vessel cauterisation at a ENT specialist (basically a Q-Tip up one nostril with lidocaine, then a silver nitrate stick to seal the vessel) set me back $260!

I was only in there for 5 minutes!

The kicker is that it didn't really work - and now I don't want to go back because I'll probably get billed again for the privilege...

I see. I know I verified that MRIs don't need pre-certification as long as they're within network. Hopefully you're right and this is fully covered.
