brilliant to teach your child thai! nothing bad can come of a child learning a different language. i went to an international school by day but chinese school 6 days a week(lived in hong kong until i was 12) and my dad's side of the family still speaks to me exclusively in chinese, so nice to still have that language. my mom spoke spanish to me but i mostly only understand it now sadly.

if we have children definitely plan to have a multi-lingual househould. a shame they don't have more comprehensive thai language programs in communities where there are sizeable ex-pats.

My fiancée is a top award-winning Thai teacher but she hasn't had much success in teaching me Thai (mea culpa).

She promises to withhold sex until I start getting some Thai words firmly in my empty brain.

(Just kidding - at least I HOPE she is kidding) :bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:

She also has talked about teaching Thai on weekends to the ex-pats kids at the local wat.

She has the creds to start a school on her own if she wants to.

My wife tell me she does not want me to learn Thai! She want to yell at me in Thai and not understand what she is saying hahaha. I guess I will learn from Chase ;)

I do wish I can learn Thai, Just find it hard to pick up. my wife family try hard to talk to me, some can talk a little English. One of her aunt always try to teach me when she come around. haha I love that fact she call every old lady grandmother, every lady her moms age Aunt and every other girl her sister.

was so so confusing to figure out who is who.

thong, awesome that your wife can teach thai at the local temple!

john maybe the next time you are in thailand you can stop by mbk and pick up the rosetta stone cd for about 100 baht . it's not perfect but pretty helpful. i wish i could grasp it more. i can eat, fight and identify my family in thai. sadly my husband is more interested in improving his english and learning cantonese than teaching me thai.

MBK is huge shopping center. You can get there on theBTS. You can get off at Siam Square or Chit Lom. It is pretty much right in between. Another good place for stuff like this is Fortune Tower. Rama IX station on the MRT.

Oh ok I see it next to Siam Paragon, We always go there to eat. Don't know why we where never in to mbk, I have to ask Nan about it. Normally she like shopping at the cheap markets unless it is for Chase :) She love to bargain over prices, haha sometime she does it just for fun to see how low she can get then tell them forget it. I am like what the hell!!!

I showed her the victoria's secret web site this week. wrong move I think hahah

I think she pick out a different nighty for each night I am there  She don't like to go into store and buy them. I guess it is not proper for a Thai lady to buy sexy nighties.

I gotta get Private Dancer. I read all 61 pages in the preview, and I'm hooked!

I'm normally not much of a reader, but I couldn't stop reading because I felt like I was right back there in Nana Plaza, and I really miss that place and all the girls!

Though Phuket and Pattaya offer more scenery, as in beaches and ocean, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza will always hold a special place in my heart! :luv:

I can't remember the bar I liked to go to the most, but it was at the top of the first flight of stairs, on the left hand side, and overlooked the central plaza. Good place to people watch, and I liked their happy hour prices. :D

Party on Dude!

Hearing "Awwl my exes live inTexas" in the background :whistle::whistle:

His sculpture & photography are good too.

Harold Stephens is currently writing a book about Theo Meyer,

a Swiss artist who lived in Bali and Chiang Mai.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Stickman is also a good read.

http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/

I gotta get Private Dancer. I read all 61 pages in the preview, and I'm hooked!

I'm normally not much of a reader, but I couldn't stop reading because I felt like I was right back there in Nana Plaza, and I really miss that place and all the girls!

Though Phuket and Pattaya offer more scenery, as in beaches and ocean, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza will always hold a special place in my heart! :luv:

I knew you were an old softy.
