Seems to me that "Delta Girls" are trained to excel in customer hostility. Its a reason I prefer Aeroflot. But I stopped acquiring data on Delta 3 years ago, after I got a full dataset, from multiple domestic and overseas flights, more than enough to draw a firm experimental conclusion.

Of the 99 or so flights I've taken in my life, I've used the "cuteness" factor of a flight attendant way more than I've used the "fireman's carry me off the burning plane" factor.

In fact, 100% of my flying experiences have weighed the attractiveness and helpfulness of the attendants more heavily than their capability to save my @$$ in an emergency. Truth be told, I've never met a woman anywhere that I've ever sized up to save my life more than I've sized up her measurements and attractiveness.

No doubt, it's important for the women staffing aircraft to be familiar with the emergency procedures, but I've always looked at it from the standpoint of not which one would carry me off the plane, but which one I'd mate with first if we were stuck on a desert isle. If you crash in a plane.... it's kind of too late anyway, don't you think? And any crash where there's a chance for survival, I'm pretty sure it'd be me carrying her off the plane, not the other way around.

By the way, wasn't Singapore Airlines voted "hottest stewardesses" by Maxim and several other men's magazines?
