Well I was the same when I left Ireland... I lived in Ireland for 5 years before to come to the US...

I was really happy to come here but in the same times I was leaving a job than I had for 4 years and reallly enjoy the job, leaving friends and family behind is not so easy...

I grew up in a very small town with only 5000 people so coming to Denver was a big moove...

But I did wait and wait for the moment to be with my honey and there s a lot of happy return

Good luck...

Can't add any more to the previous but just to say I have been there too and have got out the other end. I moved from London to a small city of 8000 and it wasn't an easy ride, I can tell ya. It will be 2 years this April and I'm a helluvolaot happier than I was when I first moved here. As it turns out, we're moving to Europe in 3 years which I would have never envisaged.

Don't have any expectations and take each day as it comes. It's a new beginning and who knows where you'll end up. Good luck

When you start to get scared about moving. Just remember all the lonely nights that you spent away from your SO. Wishing that you could be with him/her. How lonely you would still be if you dont move.

I have been in the US now since May 24/05. Things have been tuff adjusting, especially for my son. He was 16 when we moved here. He turned 17 in November. He wanted to leave here for the first 4 or 5 months. Now he is settled and has met some really nice friends. That really teared me apart him being sad here for all those months.

Things take time. Dont think that everything will be perfect when you get here. Its not a vacation this time that you are on. Its the real deal.

Everyone has these feelings. I will never forget the look on my oldest son's face when I had to say good bye to him. Or the tears my mother cried when my son and I had to go board the plane. Not a pleasant memory. :crying: But I call home anytime I want and that helps alot. Get a great long distance plan and whenever you are feeling lonely for home, call someone you love.
