Come on, guys, what did Obama *lie* about?

He said he'd bring CHANGE and here I am still on the job and I still have bills to pay and I'm still poorly endowed and my bank balance still isn't compensating quite enough and Constellation still kicks my butt in all VJ threads................

He said he was going to spread your wealth around and he will - just be patient.

I can't wait, I need more cash.

Ok I take back calling you a liar. You may misunderstand the facts of the case, and that's fine.

As I said whatever.

It still dose not change the fact that our wonderful caring country wants to preserve their freedoms while friends and neighbors die and become disable all for the want of health care for all.

When it comes to your health insurance company deciding what treatment they will and will not pay for, when it should be your doctors who decide that. where is the freedom in that?

Hey I'm with you on the need for reform.

I just happen to think group-insurance is one of the bright spots in the overall insurance picture. Individual insureds are the ones who really get the shaft. They're the ones who really need this.

Yes I agree, My parents are just about to move here and they will be paying $1054 per month for their insurance and that is a plan that is mid way in cost but gives them enough coverage that they should not get screwed if one of them becomes sick.

You still haven't explained how your brother-in-law got kicked out of his group plan when it's clearly against the law.

I have given you all the fact that I know.. It was not the fact the he lost his insurance that I was trying to point out it was that there are 1000's of people who lose their insurance when they need it most and there is no system to help them get the treatment they need.

That is where the health care here is lacking. It may be the best in the world but its only available to those who can afford to pay for it.

You say that as things stand you have the freedom to choose your doctor, your specialist, your treatment.. Well the reality is that it is your health insurance company that have the freedon to choose. It is not a case of what treatment you need, it is what treatment will your health insurance chooses to cover.

My Brother-inlaw was diagnosed with MS, He had good insurance from his employer, Once the doctors had worked out the best plan to try to slow down the progresion of his MS, his insurance company wrote to him informing him that they can not continue to cover him and his coverage was cancelled.

He has tried to get private insurance coverage but as soon as the other companies find out he was dropped by his old insurance company they say the can not cover him..

He is now left in the situation where his MS will get worse over the next few years and he will end up totaly disabled and unable to work. The cost of the MS drugs to slow down the prograsion start at $2,450 a month, cost of a MRI to check the progresion once a year costs $3,700, the cost of a visit to a MS specialist is $350 for 15 mins.

In the UK he would be treated for free. I can not belive how our great country of America stands by and watches those who can not help themselves suffer and die, America prides itself as having the best health care in the world, sadly if you dont have the money to pay for it then you are screwed....

Another preventable tragedy. People read about this every day, but yet still defend the current system. Unbelievable.

This is what I'm talkin' about!

So sorry to read about your brother-in-law TayRivers.

It seems to happen often.

Even things like car and home insurance do not pay out when needed and drop the client.

I have heard too many people that either it has happened to them and they have lost out, or needed to get a lawyer to fight for their rights

AND

I have spoken to insurance salespeople who tell me horror stories about how their companies (the umbrella company, the mega corporation) does not pay out....they find loopholes.

BUGGERS!

Just this morning on NPR, discussions on healthcare reform.

Could it be a hot topic at the moment?

Hahaha!

Well, the really funny part was how they discussed the billions spent by the U.S. government on socialized health care in THIS country already.

It has been going on for years.

Anyone surprised?

I just want to know why those who go and "fight" for the U.S. do not get treatment when they get back all wounded (physically and emotionally).

Anyone?

This sucks more than i can express.

I just dislike it whenever government has so much control. In BC, for instance, there's ONE auto insurer (Autoplan run through ICBC) and that's it. Do you know what my annual cost is for one car? Over $3000 and that's for BASIC coverage.

If there were multiple insurers the price might be lower due to competition. But Autoplan and ICBC don't have that, so they can charge whatever they want.

Let me tell you what has happened to me today. I am currently in Denmark visiting my SO. I have the flu - H1N1. I got sick yesterday but thought I could fight this on my own, woke up this morning and realized it's bigger than me.

We went to the hospital here in Helsingor and when I told them at the emergency room that I was sick and I thought I had the flu they sent me home. They told me that there were procedures in place for this and they could not and would not treat me there. They gave me some phone numbers of doctors to call and said one would come to the house and give me the test and medication.

So, we came back to the house, called the numbers, all were on summer holiday except one. They said to call back after 4. We did, after being questioned over the phone and "diagnosed" - the doctor refused to come to the house to treat me and told me to stay inside for 7 days. No medicine because I am not in a high risk group and if I returned to any hospital, I would be refused treatment.

I stopped complaining about ANYTHING to do with health care in America right then. This is where we are headed, in my opinion - if the democrats have their way. Who gets to decide what kind of risk I am and why? How could they know just by talking to me over the phone? I felt very powerless today, as well as pretty darn sick! I know our system isn't perfect, no system is but I really missed being able to go to the corner doctor and being seen and treated and then heading down to the local pharmacy for some good old drugs.....

Hope you feel better soon... better to get it now than what I fear will happen this winter with that flu.

Now to answer this one question:

Who gets to decide what kind of risk I am and why?

The medical authorities in Denmark. The ER likely told you this...

This is a medical question... not an insurance one. Hence, if the Democrats take the US towards that... makes no difference if they weren't. Which they aren't if you've noticed.

Now focus on healing. :)

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
