Hi you all!

I'd read that to get married in the USA i will need to bring my birth certificate (civil wedding) and i need to translate it in Peru, get it certificate by Migraciones, the embassy and the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, but the thins is that I dont know where to start!!

I wrote to Migraciones but they didnt write me back yet...so I prefer to be ready and start doing that before it's time to leave!

Have someone from Peru have done this before? can you help me telling me what I have to do first? I will appreciate it.

Bye

Lucia

Lucia,

I entered the US with a fiancee visa (K1 visa). I got married (civil marriage) one month later in California.

We made an appointment with the Clerk Recorder of the County where we live, and in order to file the "application for license to marry" all they asked from me was:

- Valid Peruvian Passport (with my K1 visa).

- My husband's driver's license.

- One witness (that came with us)

- Pay the fee

They didn't ask me for my birth certificate or a certified translation of it.

Where are you planning on getting married?

Patricia
