Has anyone already been through this / run into anything that may help for this State? Nebraska -

Looked up on Sarpy County website and it says you need SSN to get married but it has no information for thos who are K-1 holders. ( Unless I was looking in totally the wrong spot but I don't think I was?)

Is there a way to get my number early like a print out from their office or something so I can get married ASAP when I get there?

My mom is going with me and my stuff, and I hear it can take 1-2 weeks to get the ssn but my mom doesnt have two weeks to stay just 1. Also my Fiance is deploying soon after I arrive.

Is it posible to get just the number from the SSN office or use the I-94 to obtain the marriage certificate/ license etc.

I know about the rest of the documents needed and I have thos, birth cert etc. I hear a lot of horror storys on here about SSN issues which worrys me somewhat. My fiance and I really want to get married as soon as posible when I get there, tired of waiting for this plus he is leaving soon for deployment by the time I get there even tho we have " 90 days to marry and file AOS " its more like a couple of weeks as he will be gone!

Thanks Guys & Gals!

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I think the best thing to do is to call the County's office directly because most people getting married anywhere in the US don't necessarily have a SSN. I'm sure you're fine with just your passport, but like I said, call them directly.

If for some odd reason they still request for you to bring a SSN with you, you can go to the SSA office to get a number up until 2 weeks before your I-94 expires. If you do it after that time frame, they won't give you a number.

As someone else has said I would contact the office that issues the marriage licenses to verify that an SSN is a requirement for someone that is not a U.S. citizen.

The other thing is if you have been in the U.S. at least 10 days I would march down to your local SSA office and apply for your SSN.

How long it takes to be assigned an SSN is going to depend on how long it takes to verify your immigration status. If you are lucky and they can do it while you are in the office and they clear the application right away, you should receive your SSN card in the mail within a couple weeks. Once the number has been assigned you can go back to the office to find out the number and they can issue you an SSN Verification Printout, which will give you some proof until you receive the card.

If you aren't lucky, it can take weeks and sometimes months to verify immigration status.
