So we got our packet three's today, one for my wife and one for my son, who is almost two. I filled out his ds-230, but I'm not sure about signing it. Should I just leave it blank? I'm really hesitant because I don't want to send it off and then have this big delay because I did or did not sign it.....help....

In Denmark we were told not to sign it because he had to sign it in the presence of the consular. Why are you petitioning for your son? He should be a USC and not need a visa.

well he's not even two years old, so I don't think he's going to be signing in front of anyone, unless they want some kind scribble on there. I'm petitioning for him because I haven't actually lived in the US long enough for him to qualify for citizenship through me.

If the form says not to sign it until you are before a consular officer, then don't sign it.

When the time comes to sign the form, you will sign for your son. I signed on some forms for my daughter. I signed my name, and then put "for..... (my daughter's name)".

I wasn't suggesting that your son should sign in front of the consular, I was saying that you shouldn't sign the document NOW, that you should sign it when you go for the interview.

Is this your birth son? Are you the father, an American citizen? If so, he is a U.S. Citizen as well. You need to have to do a Report of Birth Abroad, so he can be registered as a U.S. birth child and receive a U.S. passport.
