So I've got an interesting question.

I'm currently waiting for my hubby to send back his John Hancock on some docs to send to NVC, plus I'm gathering what I can for the NVC packet plus interview, etc.

We will have been married for 2 years come November 1st. An interesting idea popped up while I was arranging all this stuff:

Given that the IR-1 visa is a better option in regards to obtaining citizenship more quickly and the green card option seems a better way to go...would it be wrong of me to want to try to have the interview scheduled after November 1st? That way, he would be going for the IR-1 visa instead? Or would that be not cool...?

Or would my delaying sending in the packet make things worse?

Would appreciate any advice anyone can give me about this.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Kat

You can delay the interview, but a better option (because of potential delays/ AP after the interview) is to have the interview asap and then simply delay moving until after your anniversary. Once you are married two years by the time you get to PoE, you get the IR-1 (though you may need to point this out to the border officer).
