####### Pretty high on the soap box huh? Must be pretty lonely up there as you seem to think you are better than most. What does owning a sword have to do with the story. Talk about baiting, but we iz nit biting. Thanks for sharing

A woman charged with murdering her 3 1/2-week-old son used a knife and two swords to dismember the child and ate parts of his body, including his brain, before stabbing herself in the torso and slicing her own throat, police said Monday.

How many women own swords let alone two swords? I guess most VJ OT contributors own swords so they don't find that part unusual.

And you yourelf are a contributing member of OT ? or did you not realize where this was?????????

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Well maybe if sensible weapon control (like actual mental health background checks on top of criminal background checks, etc) was in place to prevent, as best possible, lunatics from getting their hands on many kinds of deadly weapons...

oh no we can't do that because the 2nd amendment says...

Until that day comes, people can own nearly any kind of legal weapon, blade, etc under the sun if they so chose, even if their baiting was irrelevant to the topic which has nothing to do with VJ members.

Here we go again with it being the weapons fault.

Let's keep the baiting and irrelevant comments and flippancy out of this thread, ok? This is a tragic situation and we can all afford to let it be only that - a tragedy for all concerned.

If she didn't have a history of mental illness before this tragic event ...

She did.

Gloria Sanchez said Monday that her niece had been "in and out of a psychiatric ward" and that a hospital called several months ago looking to check up on her. She said Otty was "not in her right mind" and that the family is devastated.

My God. Why didn't the family have her committed if they knew she was psychotic?

They probably did. But commitments in the US are usually just for a few days. Long term facilities are few and far between - most states have done away with them.

And long-term treatment for mental health concerns is just as expensive from the insurance POV is it not?

I'm sure she wouldn't mind, and that would be the end of the tangent from me on this sick topic. :(

I do.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

If she didn't have a history of mental illness before this tragic event, I wonder if she was suffering from postpartum depression?

sounds more like postpartum psychosis

Lol I don't disagree with that. I am open for a new title that expresses the same meaning.

No, but it isn't Barnum and Bailey's Circus either. I'm just saying there is no need to head in that direction with this thread. The topic is sad. Let's leave it at that.
