The I-797 states valid to 08/07/2009 and no interview yet, what do we do?

If the I-797 states that it is approved to 08/07/2009 and my fiance has yet to have an interview or if he doesn't make it to the US by this date, what procedures must be taken. He mailed the IV-15 check list to the consulate in the UK on 7 July 2009. How long will it take from their for him to get an interview date and if the interview date is scheduled beyond the date on the I-797 of 08/07/2009, what is he supposed to do? Ask for an extention or will it's no big deal or what? Who can help?

The Embassy/Consulate will (almost as a matter of routine) extend the expiration date of the approval notice - to be certain, you can contact the Embassy/Consulate to inquire/be certain.
