The other day I heard about a guy who was run over by a truck while sleeping in the passing lane of a freeway. Although I feel sorry for him, very much so, I can't help but wonder why in the world he didn't pay attention on where to lay down to rest.

Then, not even a month ago, there was this lady in Germany who climbed into the tiger (or was it lion's?) cage at the zoo and got hurt. I feel sorry for her but can't help but wonder why in the world she would do such a stupid thing.

Now I read about someone who didn't pay attention to the whole immigration process, "forget" to apply for removal of conditions, left the country without even looking at the Green Card, and is now sitting in China, slowly facing reality. While I feel sorry for that person, I can't help but wonder why someone does't pay attention to things that haves such incredible importance to their live.

The first time I bought an umbrella with the warning label saying "do not use as a parachute" I wondered why. Now I wonder if USCIS should print a label on the Green Cards stating: check expiration date before leaving country.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but often the most painful lessons in life have the highest impact.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

When hubby went to BIo appointment they did not want to see his drivers license they wanted to see his GC, just FYI.......

Which is only logical sister NArocks. As a permanent resident, we have to carry the original GC with us at all times; and are obliged by law to report it missing -which the OP did do- and file for a replacement as soon as possible -which the OP didn't do-.

now, since it is so close to her ROC and new card being done; maybe she won't have much problems; but I would not bank on that.

Would it make the situtation complicated when I have two cases pending at USCIS, one for ROC, and one for replacement of the missing card? Would it confuse the officers and cause them to reject both? From my past experience dealing with USCIS, many of the officers are simply go-by-the-book type of clerks. They either are not capabale of analysing and synthesizing and combinning cases, or they don't want to go beyond their daily works.

Thanks a lot.

:wow: Any other generalizations that you would like to make about groups of people?

I concur that an Infopass appointment is your best shot at getting your lost card issue resolved with the least amount of guessing.

I wouldn't mention your personal feelings when you are asking a USCIS staff person about helping you to solve this situation.

Best of luck to you

Agreed brother Ahn... it is NOT USCIS fault that the OP neglected to keep up with his/her immigration process.

I have filed I-90 on line, paid the fee of $370, and printed out the receipt. It's said in 7 to 10 days I should receive an official Receipt of Notice (I-797). I'm going to bring the receipt and the I-797 to my biometrics appointemnt on 8/14, along with other documents.

Appreciate comments from all of you. They are helpful.

Thanks a lot.
