How long is a PCC valid?

hi all i need help ...i got my pcc in jan 2009 frm kolkata and hyderabad India thinking my case will get approved around that time..however to my bad luck my case just got approved.

How long is a PCC certi valid for in INdia frm teh date it si stamped?

How long is the PCC stamp on passport valid for from the passport office in india?

I've never been able to figure this out, but if you go to LingChe's short cuts in the Wiki's, he has a link to a page on the US state department. I'll find it.

You choose India from the drop down menu and there is a chart telling you a length of validity for documents depending on what type of visa you are going for, I'm assuming an R visa. Below that is an explanation of how you go about getting your particular documents for the country you hae chosen.

It still isn't very clear for me, and no one can give me a clear answer for my situation. My husband has not been in China for 2.5 years and has a PCC that is dated about 4 weeks before he left the country for the last time. It seems crazy that he has to get a PCC for years when he hasn't been there. The PCC will only list the period of time that he was in the country, not up until the present, so . . . But to be safe, we are going to get another one. At least we will try. It's going to be a real pain in the backside.

hey thanks so much.yeah it will be an IR1 VISA.I actually got it in jan 2009 however am sure how long its valid.will teh check teh link you sent me and am also goin to call the dept to find out.

if you alredy got the vis than why do you need PCC?

oops sorry i meant i already got the PCC from KOLKATA and from HYDERABAD in jan and teh date on both have crossed 6months.eg kolkata is dated 3rd of jan as issue date.

will i have to get both PCC s again?i hv searched all over for validity of the PCC for IR1 visa unable to find it and am all tensed..thinking tht i have to get them again is stressing me out:(

is it valid for only 6months in india for IR1 visa?

I believe for India, it is one year, but you might want to call the embassy to verify. I hope so, because my husband's is dated April 22, 2009. Still waiting for our NOA2.

Am still trying to get a confirmation from a person in charge at teh local police station None of them know actually for sure:(

hey kaushalia i hope wht u saying is correct as it will save me lotsa time and money to go and get the updated PCCs however as you said better to chk with chennai as that will be my place of interview.

Have you tried and called mumbai or NVC and asked them teh validity???I will try and do that asap and inform you as well.which plave are you in?are you in india at teh moment?am sure you counting days as well...

just to add on to the last msg..i have gone through this link numerous times:(it does not talk about validity of police clearance in india..on tht reciprocity link for india my visa IR it says 60months...tht cant be true i know.

hey thanks again but u know am so paranoid about this whole process that i need to see it on the US website to be sure,and unfortunately i see that onm teh mumbai us consulate site BUT WHY IS THE SAME PARAGRAPH NOT IN THE CHENNAI US CONSULATE SITE?????

BTW i called the chennai embassy just now and a lady who did not disclose her name said 'it will be valid for 1 yr frm teh date of issue' HOWEVER its safe if its within 6months on teh date of interview coz tht may reduce your visa period.I todl her mine is IR visa.
