Check out http://www.idt.net Ive been really pleased with their Global Calling Cards. They have reliable service, good connections, and reasonable rates (at least for Morocco, you may find a better rate elsewhere for your country). And they round by the second, not the minute. They also dont start charging the card until someone picks up on the other end (unlike some of the other cards Ive tried). The best feature is the phone log you can get from their website, fantastic proof for the interview down the road.

brazil - 6 cents a minute to 2 cents a minute

guyana isn't cheap, its 38-22 cents a minute

morocco isn't cheap either, 43-19.8 cents a minute.

note that calling a cell is more expensive

you can check the price for free, no need to join.

the way this works is:

you put a prepaid amount from a credit card on your account after you register

you call from your cell or home phone to a 1-800 number

punch in your security code

punch in the number including international access code

and there ya go. next time you use it it tells you how much you have left in monetary amount and in minutes to that number you are calling.

it's what i use to call nessa, the plan i have on it runs about 4 cents a minute as i don't want to pay the weekly or monthly fee, but if you call frequently such is probably a good idea as you get a cheaper per minute cost.

If you both have a PC then get the free download of Skype from skype.com and you can call each other for free.

If you are in the UK and you must use a phone, then join Talk Talk. The line rental is the same as BT, you pay £9.99/month for the call package which gives you ALL your local, national and most international calls for free, and on top of that you get FREE broadband. Total price £20.99/month, then talk as long as you want. Easy. :)

I use Alosmart.com for my calling cards.. I am lucky though US to Taiwan I can get .7 cents a minute (Yes .7 of 1 cent.. not even a cent a minute) .. I searched for US TO Guyana for you on their website and here are some of the cheaper they have. Seems pretty expensive to call Guyana .. Not sure if this is any cheaper.

Card Name Rate/min

GLOBAL CONNECT 10.9 ¢

PASSPORT 12.2 ¢

PYRAMID 13.2 ¢

SYRIAN TALK 13.2 ¢

FAR EAST 13.5 ¢

DESERT EXPRESS 13.9 ¢

PHONETASTIC 13.9 ¢

I had bad luck with calling cards. I would keep track of the minutes and if I didn't use the card in one phone call, the company was charging me hidden fees even though the cards claim no hidden charges. Anybody else run into this problem?

I use VIATALK VOIP Service. 13 cents a min when calling a reg phone, and 16 cents a min when calling a cell phone from the U.S. to Jordan. There are lower rates it depends where you call. My fiance can call me and her call will be treated as a local call. System hooks directly in my cable using a phone router. I t also comes with voicemail. Transmissions are very clear as if the person is directly in front of you. While my fiance was in Germany it only cost me 2 cents a min using the VIATALK VOIP SERVICE.

I use Skype, my parents use Skypeout and I think my dad pays $.03 a minute to the UK.

For people in the uk I dial 08444 621621 and it costs £.02 a minute to most parts of the world. It is charged to your landline and I find it very cheap!

Is this where you also use a router for your phone that connects through your computer? I just want to be clear what you all are talking about because currently I'm using my regular phone service which has an internaional calling plan that is competitive with what's out there - Cox Cable. I'm paying 17 cents per minute to a landline and 20 cents to cell. I've looked into other internet phone calling plans such as Vonage and their rate is about the same. If you know for sure that I can get something at least 5 cents cheaper per minute than what I'm using with Skype, I'll change.

JoeyJoey,

My fiancee is also in Brazil. I have uses viapin.com for about a year now. Rates vary for regions of Brazil, but I pay 3.3 cents per minute. We also talk every day I spend $30 - $60 per month. If you live in the LA area or if you can call the LA access numbers for free with your home or cell phone you can get their lowest rate to Brazil.

Bill

Fiancee in Brazil. I use ATT's International Calling plan. We talk almost every day and I pay about $200 each month. I have tried some of the other plans, but the call quality is often not very good. AT&T works great for us and $200 is not too much.
