hi all...

ok i came over to the US on a J1 visa for the summer about 6 years ago and we have already sent out the k1 application early last week..

my question is whether the SSN should have been mentioned on the application.. I have no idea what the number was or how to trace it? I'm just wondering if this could cause problems in my application?

thanks

Yes - your SSN is yours for life, if you had one assigned - you should of used it.

It should be on any paystubs/tax forms you have from working previously.

You can contact the SSA to get a new card/lookup your SSN.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can always explain your decesion at the interview.

well i just wasnt thinking and pretty annoyed with myself now. Just trying to work out how to get hold of the number in case they query it. but then if they query it they obviously have the number themselves? So yes I guess I just need to tell them I simply didnt realise the SSN was still valid since I was just on a summer job while at Uni...

like I said fingers crossed. However if anything does come of this i'll certainly advise on here!

Shouldn't affect the application, just be sure to find out your SSN and use it for the rest of the process. (EAD in paticular)
