DS156K for K3 visa

I am curious how others have answered question 4 on the DS156K form. If the applicant is already married to the US citizen how did your spouse explain that on the form? It looks like it is a form that is needed even though you are already married. I think you need one copy of the DS156K form and two copies of the DS156 for a K3. Please let me know if I am incorrect.

Thanks in advance.

Hi BRB.

For K3 visa applicants, you only need to fill out DS-156 and DS-157.

DS-156K is filled out by K1 visa applicants (Fiance(e) Visa) who have an approved standalone I-129F.

Hope this is helpful.

At the Government link below it specifically states that two copies of the DS156 are needed along with one copy of the DS156K.

This is copied from the government web site

Applying for a Visa

The embassy or consulate where you, the spouse of an American citizen, will apply for a K-3 visa must be in the country where your marriage took place. Here are the procedures to apply. The embassy or consulate will let you know any additional things to do, such as where you need to go for the required medical examination. During the interview process, an ink-free, digital fingerprint scan will be taken. Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a Consular Officer. The following is required:

Two copies of form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application

One DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application form

Police certificates from all places lived in since the age of 16

Birth certificates

Marriage certificate for spouse

Death and divorce certificates from any previous spouses

Medical examination (except vaccinations)

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

Two nonimmigrant visa photos, two inches/50 X 50 mm square, showing full face, against a light background)

Proof of financial support (Form I-134 Affidavit of Support may be requested.)

Payment of fees, as explained below

Is there anyone one else that can comment please

Hi BRB.

I downloaded the checklist from the U.S. Embassy Manila website: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk3en.pdf

They require DS-156 (2 copies) and DS-157 for K3 applicants. I guess it's a Philippine requirement? Saw the US State Government list and the DS-156K form.

mmmm....the two sites do not seem to agree. Looks like a typical gov. run operation.

Yep. We saw it listed as a required doc too, my husband filled it out but they didnt want/take it at the consulate.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks I guess I will fill out both just in case. It is listed on the offical USCIS.gov web site so you really don't have a good reason not to have if if they ask for it.
