I think there's very, very few people in Cali who don't get interviews.

Looks pretty rare though.

Yup, I think its for the same reason we have to redo our whole license...so that it doesnt look like they are singling out people of certain backgrounds. Sucks though, I'm so nervous for our interview, I keep going over and over everything I have hoping its enough.

I know everyone probably says this, but trust me when I tell you that the AOS interview is easy. Easy as pie! I'd even say it was easier than Montreal. Now that you're here, the only thing they're really out to criticize is the validity of your relationship. Since you all have very valid relationships with your spouses, there really isn't anything to worry about. It's not like Montreal where you're left wondering silly things in the back of your mind like "oh I hope my police certificate is right" or "I hope nothing weird comes up in my mystery medical package..." It's frustrating and rather annoying you need to defend your marriage, but I guess it's all part of the process.

I was nervous and a little angry when I found out I had an interview, but in the end I was actually thankful that I had it. A lot of people who filled AOS around the same time as me took months longer to have their cases approved at CSC. I was also able to talk to the IO about a few things that we're not necessarily directly about my case (ie. my issues with the DMV) and get some insight into that. I'd say it was a rather positive experience.

I really don't know why some people get transferred and others do not. I've heard a lot of theories and honestly, I don't buy any of them. My case was as simple as they get. No-sponsor, no past criminal issues, no medical problems, I had all my original documentation, etc. There was nothing in my case that would make it stand out as unusual or different. But, we ended up with an interview! I think it's just completely random in most cases. There also sees to be some states where people always get an interview, like you were just talking about. Colorado seems one of those states as well. I know two other people who moved down here on K-1's a couple months after me, and all three of us had an interview.

Kind of silly that they'd approve your EAD so close to your interview, Sam.

You'd think they'd see your interview is so close that they wouldnt waste the time and paperwork to give you something you wont even get to use

My only assumption is that the left hand truly doesn't pay attention to what the right hand is doing. Whichever bureau deals with my EAD/AP likely isn't actually aware of transfers to my local office. Silly and retarded, but meh. Least I'll have all of the proof in the world if they choose to be real lazy with sending me my GC.

Tried to get a license here in Oregon... and failed miserably this past Friday. Turns out they need my EAD to even CONSIDER giving me a license, let alone an Oregon ID. On top of that, after being a driver for over 10 years in Canada, they're telling me that I have to re-take a written AND actual driver test AFTER I get my EAD/Green Card. ASLDJALSDJALSDKAJD!!!!!!!!!!LASDLAS!@@#Uq)($)#(*$1!!! Needless to say, I'm not happy, but I guess I have no other choice.

I really was hoping for my case to get transferred to California, but after reading what people have said on here, I'm feeling more relieved (well, just a bit) for my interview on May 17. It feels like it's going to take forever since there hasn't been any touches on the AP or EAD either. Hopefully something will happen soon!

Same issue Rhiann and I had here in CA. Quite stupid. At least your interview is soon, after that you wont have to worry about USCIS for 2 years! WOOHOO!

I'll have the same issue here in CA with the license too. It's really ridiculous.

Good luck at the interview though :)

I get to look forward to my biometrics appt this coming Friday. 45 min drive to get to it (which I'm still irritated about, btw... lol). Was in the neighbourhood of the other ASC office (the one actually in town here) a couple days ago, but it looks like it's closed. Stupid. Probably means the one far away is going to be super busy, if everyone from around here has to go there now. I'm not looking forward to it, to be honest. Mostly because we'll have to get up at 6am that day.

Wow, so you can interview for no other reason than everyone who immigrates to that particular state gets slapped with an interview...? That is crazy. I thought they would at least consider a particular factor that is common across the board among everyone who interviews.

When most of our batch came over, a lot were just getting transferred... so I thought oh maybe they are changing the interview process as most already interviewed in Montreal/Vancouver, so maybe they don't require an interview anymore. Then I thought it was a co-sponsor thing, but now, meh its a location thing? :P

Anyway good luck folks! I know everyone will do great :)

Went to my biometrics appointment this morning. Local office is in Detroit.

Got there at 8:10 (my apt was for 9, but I had to drop off my husband at work & went right over).

Passed security, filled my name, ph#, d.o.b & A# on a form. Sat & was called in, in less than 5 mins.

She took my fingerprints & my picture, then I was good-to-go!

In & out in 10 mins.

So anyone who's going to the Detroit localtion, go early if you can. I don't know how busy they get later, but they took me in well before my apt time.

...and now we wait some more....

8/2/2021:  Mailed N-400

8/4/2021: N-400 received

8/6/2021:  Biometrics to be reused
3/15/2022:  Interview (successful)

I just posted yesterday about how I didn't get a touch on my EAD & AP... and what do you know... I just got a text message this morning that my EAD & AP have both been APPROVED! They're both in production right now! YAY!

I have seen a couple of people from California get transferred with no interviews. I'm starting to wonder if it has anything to do with how busy each office is? But seriously, I dunno. lol
