Grats on the job Tina and the green card spoom!

And i got my marriage certificates!!! :)

originally when we got the licence we were told to wait 3 weeks..but i was like..frig that..so we went in yesterday as they are open late, and what do you know..married on the 11th, and it was RECORDED already on the 14th..so it took them two days to do it..

so for reference..don't wait as long as they tell you too, chances are you can get it earlier. Picked up 6 copies for 35$, not so bad. Now i can do my SSN and send in my AOS as soon as we get the rest of the money, and my pictures. Woot! Finally feel some progress haha.

As I told David..YAY I GOT MY RECEIPT FOR HIM :P

LOL, they only told you 3 weeks? We were told it would take 6-8 weeks for them to mail it to us. I called the courthoue a couple of days later and they said it would be 2-3 weeks. I wish we could have gotten 6 copies for $35, here they were $13 each.

Are you waiting for "wedding photos" from a professional or can we just print out ones that our friends take on their digital cameras? I am going to call my county clerk to see how much the certified certificates cost. HOpefully it is around $35 that would be better than lots more money.

I'm nervous everytime I have to go into some sort of appointment here in the States, as I feel like I always have to prep for a confrontation and be defensive as to why I'm there, haha. So you're certainly not the only one.

Good luck!

I didn't send in any photos or evidence with the AOS petition (though I did with the K1). Though if I had, we wouldn't have had any 'professional' ones to send in, so the others would've had to work. :P

Maybe that's it...i was immediately telling David why that can refuse me rather than thinking positive that it would be no problem! I even got it in my Married name lol. Showed my CDN passport, with visa, and i-94, marriage certificate, and that was it. I was panicking cuz i forgot my BC but had a copy with me only, and it wasn't even asked for. All she said was to make sure my name specifically was on the mailbox, and not just last name, as some postal people wont deliver an SSN to a box like that. Aside from the long wait as it was jam packed, it took me like a minute, but the wait was an hour and a half!

WOOT, On to state id and drivers licence and bank!

I didn't send in any photos with the petition, but did bring them to our AoS interview. The interview officer did ask for them during the interview and said that it absolutely didn't matter that they were professional or not.

The social scruity office is an awful awful place. I don't know about Florida or Illinois, but here, it can be absolutely miserable. There will always be a ton of people there, and half of them will be sick. The people who work at the counter, seem to have the default setting that they want to deny whatever it is you are applying for. We got lucky the second time we went there and got the one compassionate employee. I've found that with the social security office, and DMV, you want to be helped by someone who has worked for 5 years or less there. They may not be as experienced or know as much, but they also are not as jaded and mean.

It's so true!! Before I got my GC I always expected a fight. A couple times I bugged my husband for days to go with me, somehow thinking that him being there would help my case, but no, it never did anything for me. DMV, SSN office, whatever, they just wanted to give me a hard time.

And then, when someone actually do what you want without fighting with you, you want to reach over the table and hug them... at least I do

I completely agree. If they've been there for a while they tend to just assume they already know what they're doing, and refuse to speak to a supervisor or research anything for you. A newer employee tends to be a little more humble, and will go out of their way to find out information they may not already know. I went to the DMV several times and had really arrogant employees who absolutely knew everything and refused to even try to help. When I finally went and had success getting my DL, it was a new employee who got up 5 times to ask someone else information.

I must have gotten real lucky. I hear that a lot about the DMV and SSN offices down here but both of them when I went in were super nice, no hassles, no problems, didn't have to prove anything to them. The lady at the DMV even went so far as to find me a 3 month temp just incase it took a really long time for my registration to be processed.

Ugh, I'm nervous about Tuesday.

I haven't been nervous at all since I got the date. Honestly, I've had my paperwork prepared for a long while now, have added the few things I've needed to as we went along and got closer to it. I don't see how I can be more prepared than I am; I've only been here four months. And yet, I'm nervous.

I pretty much avoid the AOS forums, and I really don't feel like panicking myself now with the random questions I know I'll find therein. How much of a joke is this interview, considering we just had one less than six months ago?

Oh Sam, you will be fine *bearhug* You and Ben have nothing to hide, are legitimately married, followed all the rules. There is really no reason for them to deny you. I understand why you would feel nervous because this is a major interview, but you just have to remind yourself that you've followed all the immigration rules and that it is an interview for formality.

I am curious though to see what is the common denominator among all the couples that have an AOS interview. I suspect its having a co-sponsor, as our batch basically entered the US within a month or two from each other, and filed for AOS in the last few months. Yet some got approval without an interview and others need an interview. If I am right, then maybe they just want to make sure that someone will support you ("alien" spouse) for the length of your conditional stay and nothing more.

Anyway

Finally married... and still married... ;)

We didn't have a co-sponsor. But I fully expected us to have an interview - I couldn't find anyone in Florida who had been transferred to CSC, and everyone at VSC gets one. Woohoo. Heh.

Thanks for the hug, though. I'm sure we'll do fine, it's just the weight of importance that's now scaring me.

Oh that is interesting! Rhiann mentioned the same thing with applicants coming from California -- I wonder if there ARE people out there who did not interview from CA or FL?

Well, just focus on the end goal! And I know (you know too) that you will rock the interview!
